I went to a friend of mine to get my car retuned after the header and PTC 3500 stall converter install. On the way home I pulled next to a black SRT-8 at a red light. This guy started reving his engine and power braking the car. As the other light turned yellow and ours was about to turn green. He stopped power braking and stalled the car. When the light turned green I waited to see what he was going to do. All of a sudden I heard tires screaming and he was starting to go so I punched it. I didn't spin a lick. After blowing his doors off by about 5 lengths to 80mph. I merged onto the interstate and he followed. At about 65 mph he pulled on side me again and wanted a chance to redeem his self. After waiting for him to start pulling I floored it again and pulled by him pretty quick (again)!! Now my car is pretty much stock its a 2002 A4 with SLP lid, K&N filter, SLP 85mm MAF, TB bypass, Jethot Hooker race headers and 3" y-pipe, Magnaflow 3" exhaust with 3.5" tips, PTC 3500 stall converter, Custom dyno tune, sub frams and Micky Thompson ET street DR's. Do you think it was a fair race?? LOL :D

Yep. Thats what I said.. You can leave much harder if you have good tires. I stall my auto all the time. I can stall it up to 2200 rpm with my stall converter. A stock converter A4 can stall to about 1800 rpm. You foot brake it and give it some gas. That will stall the motor and preload the suspension..

hey man a win is a win. so i give you props. but they do look kind of heavy. i got a similar story but mine consists of my girl and I on the 60 towards LA coming from Hemmet. a 2000-2002 or 03 mustang cobra (not supercharged) pulled up right next to me and took off. he then waited for me again, i honked three times and took off i didn't have to downshift i just floored it and took it. i did the same thing for the second race and then on the third one i dropped it down to third went on to fourth and by then i was like 3-4 cars ahead of him.

Good kill! There's 1 black Charger SRT8 and a silver 300C SRT8 in town that I want to run. Both are young cocky guys with hot chicks that think they are all great.

Yup, a heavy car that runs low 13's high 12's..
This an artical comparing the GTO to the Charger!!
Maybe so, but for this duo the drag strip is still the happiest place on earth. They flat smoke down the quarter mile...each in the 13s. The edge goes to the Charger with a fleet 13.3 seconds at 108.2 mph, with gearchanges from its 5-speed automatic so crisp it feels like it's been fitted with a speed-shop shift kit. The GTO leaves equally hard, but the long throws and somewhat imprecise action of its 6-speed manual prevent extracting those last tenths of a second — it clocked a 13.7 at 103.9 mph. Both sound great; the Dodge, exhaling through real tubular headers and 2.75-in. pipes, has a 1960s' blatblatblat so cool you'd think there are a pair of glass packs ahead of the rear axle. The GTO has a deeper, more dignified Corvette signature that sounds powerful without being obnoxious.

I love a good race story. These are the best kind of posts. Forget all the questions and bickering.
We should have a continual post of just talking about all the cars we eat it, and the glorious stories that go with it.

I had a situation with a guy that had an '06 SRT-8. He swore up and down he could run with me, since my car made 405, and his put out a stout 425. Too bad he didn't know the difference between flywheel and rear-wheel. :ughlaugh: Killed 'em.

lol i like the look of those cars but they just dont perform on the street as well as either of my two ls1 f bods,
i pulled up to one in my 99 it was a blown 300c srt 8, i had my 4.10's in so i had no worries as my car is pretty damn quick on the street i hook like a son of a bitch,
anyways long story short, i pulled up next to him rolled down my window and i heard a whistle under his hood, asked if he was supercharged he replied like, um yeah and why do you wanna know, so i was all wanna go on this green, he just chuckled and said do you really? my girlfriend said no he doesnt and hit my arm and tried to roll up my window, i got pissed and said hell yeah i do lets go, then my gf started sayin luke if you do this im gonna get outta this car and :blah: so i said no im not gonna im just messin around, i saw the other light hit yellow and i started to stall up my car lol, she flipped , light went green i took him so hard off the start, by the end of our race which was about to 80 mph i had him by half a car, i was proud i rolled down my window again to catch a few words but he kept looking forward not even acknowledging me lol it was awesome, best street kill by far, except a few slow cobras

I c, the SRT must not have caught any traction at all, i guess having all that horsepower is useless if you cant put it to the ground.

right he burned out more than me, but its not like he sat there and spun off the tires, i got him by 3 right off the bat, and by 80 to our predertermined spot i had him ,
i would imagine in a full quarter mile we would have been neck and neck or he get me by no more than a car, i dunno i wish i can see him again,. so i can put the real whippin on him with my 02

Its just hard to imagine that an srt8 300 with a blower lost to a lightly modded ls1 f bod. Seeing how a stock srt8 is good match for our cars...

i dont know waht kind of srt 8's you guys race but the ones around here are junk, mid 13 second junk at best, i cant count on one hand the amount of them taht have bitten the dust,

You said this was a supercharged SRT. Stock srts are 6.1ltr N/A engines that puts out 425 horse. I think most supercharged ones put out well over 500fwhp...
camarojunky74

oh it was blown and he told me he dynod at like 512 or something, and yes mid 13's was impressive for like 2002 this is 07 and my 02 and my 99 still smoke shit left and right,
so lets do the math this guys car has 182 more hp than i do to the wheels, his car also respectively weighs about 800 lbs more than mine also, so lets say at best this guy can pull of a 13.0 im still faster,
listen guys im not on this website to put people down or be a liar and say i beat cars that are ridiculous,
anything is possible on the street and if we all havent learned that yet well you got a lot of learnin to do

So when did you talk to the SRT to find out he had 512whp? Because from the first quote you and the Srt driver didnt talk much. Remember this:

I just smell a whole bunch of BS. If your gonna lie remember what all you have said. You are still missing the point the car in "stock" form is a mid to low 13 sec. car. With the supercharger, if he had one, the car is a low to mid 12 sec car. Either the Srt wasnt supercharged or your running low low 12 sec 1/4 times...

He's not running in the 12's with what he has done!! My car runs low to mid 12's depending on the air with what I have done. And I have alot more work done to my car than he does.. Not to mention I live in New Orleans which is below sea level but usually muggy..

well i didnt really feal i needed to get into every step by step of my conversation although looking back its a pretty imprortant step, after he said yeah i asked him how much power then asked him if he wanted to go on the green,,,
i have taken my car numerous times to the 1/8 mile track called irwindale which is great for traction this is where i have pulled my best times, i have taken it to the 1/4 mile track called california speedway where the best 60 foot i could manage was a 2.1 where as the 1/8 mile track i pull consistent 1.8's. at 8.1 my 1/4 time the next day was 13.2 spinning pretty hard,
like i said i am not on this web site to prove to anyone that i have the faster car im not a internet racer, im just on here sharing a good STREET RACE story,
sorry for the confusion, i hope this helps

I am not trying to be rude or anything but post this on your own thread man. Please don't continue to Hijack my thread. And second when you give time slip results try to be as imformative as possible.. I am not calling you a liar but with the mods you have it's a little hard to believe that your car would run 13.2 even if you hooked. I can see maybe 13.4-13.6 hooking good with your 1.8 60ft.. Unless you have some sort of a freak car!! And we all know they exist.. My car has 355rwhp with an A4 that runs 1/4 mile in 12.60 @ 108mph 1.74 60ft 8.0 1/8 mile @ 86.22 mph. If you wana see my mods go to the first page and read them.. :naughtywa

That's what stock SRT-8s do on a bad day too. And you have 4:10s?? :jerkit:
And they are junk? You've got a lot to learn. Trap speeds as high as 110mph stock. That's a 12sec car.
OP: When you "stall" it, that means you killed the power, like in a manual. Meaning the engine stalled. What he did was called a "brake torque".
camarojunky74
10-30-2007, 09:55 AM
lol i do have 4.10's just not in my 02, i have them in my 99, maybe your getting two different cars mixed up, i beat him in my 99, i just raced my bone stock 02 last saturday and got a 13.4 at 105.
as for my 99 its gone a 8.1 in the 1/8 on a 1.8 60 foot, i dont know what that equals out to in the quarter, but this is the fastest my car has ran at a track,.
its also kinda funny how eveyone pretends that they were there or know the car, when you street race not always the fastest car wins, and also like i said we didnt race a full 1/4 mile, we only got enough room to stretch our legs to 80 mph,we had agreed to this before racing i also said just on the launch i had him by 3, and obviously i didnt win by 3 which means he does have a faster car, but this race i won, whether it was a little less than a 1/8 mile whatever , it was a street race, we couldnt safely accelerate anymore than 80mph

oh is that so, actually when you brake torque a converter to the maximum rpm its known as stalling it up, i may have said stal for short but thats neither here nor there,
its okay bro i know your mad cause mopar burned you and made an suv that would blow all 4 of your doors off, shit i would be mad too, or the fact you paid for an overpriced luxury car from chrysler, not a mucle car, yeah its got 425 hp, but thats about it,

Good thing you didn't stall a manual car! :sillyme:
If you got him by 3 CLs on the launch, not many cars could catch up before 1/8th anyway. Too bad you didn't try from a roll.
Burned me how? Because I trap 3-5mph higher than the JSRT-8 and run circles around it on the road circuit? Oh, true it does get better 60fts and more consistent ETs. My bad. :sillyme:
Not a muscle car? Hmmm, maybe a "sport sedan" I guess. But funny thing is, to find something comparable, with an auto, I would have paid $80k. So I over paid for what?
Heat soaked it dyno'd 365rwhp and now, I/E and no tune, 385rwhp. So you tell me how much hp it has....
camarojunky74
10-31-2007, 08:44 AM
your right, of course it has more power, and im not denying that on a 1/4 mile drag strip, he probably would pull me, however 90% of races i do are on the street so as far as getting a good stretch of road is pretty hard you get what you can work with, and for me to race him from a roll... well it doesnt take a rocket scientist to figure out i would have gotten handled,
as for the jeep, i cant remember one post or mention to road racing...??? we are talking stragiht line performance,
as for a comparable car under 80k, how about a 2002 camaro, any c5r vette will do and do it better than your "sport sedan"
getting into this argument is just plain dumb, we can go round and round about stupid ass shit.
so ill man up and say that im done, i dont need to get into a internet pissing contest with you, i was just upset that i dont even know you and you come at me like im lying, and thats not what im about...
for the record srt8 chargers are fuckin bad ass, i dont know exactly what you paid but i got an idea, i would have to say they are nice on the inside as well,
well man i hope that in the future you read a little before accusing,

i dont know waht kind of srt 8's you guys race but the ones around here are junk, mid 13 second junk at best,
Your words.
From a roll I'll take the Jeep anyway. Most street races, right? My GF got the jump on me last night in her SLK350 and beat me - in 1st gear which is all we had room for.
as for a comparable car under 80k, how about a 2002 camaro, any c5r vette will do and do it better than your "sport sedan"
Apples to oranges. Not comparable whatsoever. In '06 it was E55s, M5s, STS-Vs, etc.

what i meant by "junk" was mid 13 second sport sedans, which is quick dont get me wrong, but it seems to me that a stock srt8 at the track or the street that i would win in any two of my ls1 camaros, just this last weekend i saw a srt magnum pull a 13.9 i dont know what mph, but thats what i saw, fast as hell for a wagon, lol
and i get what your saying as far as 4 doors go, BUT if dodge offered a 2 door version what would you take, i would assume the 2 door, then it would be comparable,
as for the charger at a road course, the only thing you have to your advanatage is hp, the day a charger pulls me thru a canyon in my 02 is few and far between, now my suspension is not stock ss, its slp ss, so i have a bit of a advantage, as well as weight, that is the big thing,

I just hope the Challenger isn't too heavy when it comes out. There is talk of a "Pony Car" racing series - 'Stang vs. Camaro vs. Challenger. That would be awesome.

Don't believe everything you read. That's a BS number. The Charger fully loaded weighs 4100lbs and the "current" Challenger concept is on the same platform, shortened 5".
The production car will be heavy, but not nearly that heavy.

Only if it gets the LS7. I'm not loyal to any brand but it looks like the Challenger wins on styling. The LS3 and 6.1 are very comparable.
