Fan mod question

I did the fan mod. I used my rear window defroster switch. I cut the hot wire to the switch and tied in a wire coming from the fan relay. The fans are working fine on the switch but the light on the switch does not come on when I turn the fans on. Can anybody tell me how to get the light to go on and off with the fans.

Hook it up the way that it used to be and test each of the wires to see which one needs to be connected to make the light turn on. I think it relies on a ground connection being made, but I don't remember for sure.

Thanks for the help but I found a wiring diagram for the switch and think I have it figured out. I just need to find the time to do it. Anybody else feel like work realy gets in the way of working there cars.
