Can I put a rear end+axle from a 2000 firebird ws6 in my 1998 firebird TA?

Shop is calling me and telling me that the newer rear end is incompatible because it "lacks a speed sensor and so the brakes wont work". I am not familiar enough to know if they are jerking me around.

EDIT: Also, my car did not come with TC and the newer rear end does have TC. if that changes anything...

I believe what they mean is the abs will not work. The brakes will work fine. Your car is probably a 3 channel abs and the rear out of the ws6 is a four channel abs. The rear end should work just fine but your abs will be disabled by the computer and the abs inop light will stay on.

Would that just be the ABS on the rear brakes?

No it will disable them front and rear.

Yeah the non-tcs cars are 3 channel with one connection on top of the pumpkin, tcs cars are 4 channel and sensors at each rear wheel.
