header question? please help

i was am going to put kooks headers on my car and i dont know much bout them and i had some questions: what is the diff b/w 1 3/4 or 1 7/8, what does stepped mean? and i prob should get the weld on ones...right? thanks

1 3/4 and 1 7/8 are the size of the primaries which are the tubes at the top of the header which bolt on to the head. the 1 7/8 are made for fairly high horse power cars. stepped means that the primaries are smaller at the top and widen out as they get closer to the collectors. these are more for big blocks or pretty much full race motors i'm pretty sure.
