120 mph gauge to 150 mph gauge

I got a 02 v6 camaro i want to put a reverse glow gauge and I also want it to be a 150 mph gauge.

So how do you get the needles (MPH) configured to work with the new gauge

You will have to buy a 150MPH cluster, you cant convert a 120. A 150 will run you around 100-150 bux at a salvage yard. www.car-part.com , hope this helps. -Tim

You can not make a v8 speedo work in a v6...... someone mentioned it could be done... but didn't provide any proof.... sorry

I did it to a 2000 Camaro. the RPM was off about 150 due to cylinder differences. And while working for a tire shop, a 2001 3800II Firebird project that had T/A body parts and a 155mph speedo that worked properly except for the RPM difference. I can verify. -Tim

So, there was a difference... in rpm.... so it does not work then

The ones that used the unit, just eyeballed the difference. And they ended up using an after market tach in their gauge pod anyways, so yeah, it worked for their setup. 150 RPM is about a needle width anyways, that little in difference would not bother me. -Tim

I've heard of one person who got this to work using a dakota digital SGI-8

I'd assume all you would have to do is splice into the tach signal wire then use the tach signal interface to convert the signal to the correct pulse to make the tach work correctly.

if you do run the 150 cluster as is the tach will be off by about 25%

My solution when i was running my 150mph cluster was running a 5" tach, but i did call dakota digital and they said this was what i needed, but i can't say 100% for sure that it will workl

I have seen it here, don't know the guy well or how he did it, but supposedly it all works good
