I have driven manual cars my whole life and this is my first auto. It has a 3800 stall. Im just curious as to how they work and add performance? Any info you guys put up would help!

Basically they slip to the stall speed...so with a 3800 stall you should be able to get the rpms up around your stall speed without the tires breaking loose for a better launch.

From a roll the rpms shouldn't drop below 3800rpms when shifting at WOT and "dead spots" are gone:yay:. A torque converter is actually that...it multiplies torque. I'm not sure if you actually get more torque at the wheels or if you're just at peak torque faster and longer though:dunno: Hopefully someone will chime in about this..

it takes mechanical power produced by the motor, then when it goes to the torque convertor, the TC multiplies power from motor to fluid transer thus getting more out of it.

thats the best way i can expplain it somewhat

Read this. It explains it pretty well.

it is a fluid coupler, like a hydraulic automatic clutch.

think of it this way: if you had a toy boat say in a bath tub that had a prop on it and you used your hand to make a current, it you make the prop on the boat move. kinda like a windmill but with tranny fluid. the stall is changed by changing the pitch of the blades inside the converter

na, cedar point is up on the lake. I'm almost in the exact center of the state. Columbus is pretty close to the center of the state and I'm just southeast of there by about 30 minutes.
