400's with 4 speeds are quite rare, but were available some years, for example in 78there were 12,665 manuals made and over 70,000 auto 400's made that year. They are tough to find, but keep looking, they are out there.

You didn't mention what years you are looking at. If you are looking for that Olds engine(I can't imagine why) with a 4 speed, I don't think they made any, but then I've never known Pontiac to be 100% on anything. If you are looking for the Pontiac 400, they used up the last 400's in '79 all as 4 speeds. Keep lookin' and good luck!

The Olds 6.6 Liter (403 ci) was only used in automatics.

So far everyone has replied correctly. my 79 has a 6.6, but it is the Olds 403 and only the auto was available. 79 was the last year of the pontiac 6.6, and very few as they were leftover engines from 78 production. If you are looking at original cars, the shaker will say 6.6 Liter for the Olds motor, and T/A 6.6 for the Pontiac 400.

I had a 403 '79 Trans Am for a few years in the '80s. It was a good car for my college days.
I've still got my 79 400/4spd

Although I didn't own it, I drove a '79 10th Annv. T/A 400/4-speed for a while. Sweet ride.

Not saying this info isnt correct,.. I just have a question. My dad had a 1980 Trans am. His said 6.6 on the shaker and it was a 403 Olds. Someone said below that they stopped making the 6.6 403 in 1979. I to have read that on the internet and only found one site that supported the 1980 trans am to of had a 6.6 403. Any info? Thanks

1979 was the last year for any 6.6 Liter (400 or 403) Trans Am. If anyone has a 1980 Trans Am with any 6.6 Liter engine, it is either a 1979 Trans Am labled as a 1980, or someone did an engine swap, which some dealers did for select customers. It was not a factory option.
