keyless entry hardly works

My keyless entry has been actin weird for a while. I changed out the battery and it still didn't help it. It rarely works and I have to open the car with the key and turn on accessory or start it before the alarm goes off. I also have tha gauge sweep, don't know if they could be related.

Gauge sweep is cause the battery needs to be charged

not sure about the Keyless thing, but try charging the battery and it may help

I've charged the battery for quite some time before, and it didn't help.

The gauge sweeping thing on the '99 cars is almost always the battery connections or low voltage, but can also be the cluster itself. GM issued a TSB on it to replace the cluster - but a good strong battery should stop it. I'd bring the battery somewhere for a free load test. Don't know if it'll clear up the remote problem.
