Cobra gets a spanking..

So. I am on the way back to work from Lunch.. and I catch a glimpse of movement from behind me.. and to my dismay it's a Cobra emblem I see in my rear view... Two guys in the car. The Driver has that knowing, cocky smile on his face that infuriates me.
I say to myself, fine.. Let's see what you got Butch :woot2:
I stab the ASR off and prepare myself.. I catch a break in the traffic and slide left so he can pull along side me, as soon as I start to clear the lane I see his nose lift HARD.. I think the SOB is gonna do a fly by !!
Dammit... I TROMP on the gas pedal like I am trying to slap my boots off the tarmac and feel the SS kick sideways left a bit, then squirrel back to the right, just as the nose of the Cobra hits my front fender I straighten out and stop his pull.. Oh, I think You're Mine..Upshift, a bit of tire squeal and I am pulling. I hear him row the gears and realize that he has a manual...But it's a non issue. I keep pulling, one.. two..three..three and a half cars and I think I GOTTA back off. This is NOT the place to break a hundred..I look up as I am hard on the brakes and these two guys FLY by me.. but will Not Look me in the Eye..

Hmm in hindsight. Perhaps I shouldn't pick on the 74-78 series Mustangs...

Yeah I ran one at the track, looked like an old POS, but ended up running low 12s it was crazy.....Low 12s 5800ft fyi

Yanno, I didn't get to talk to them, so I am not certain. I had a 78 Cobra II ( I bet the Ford guys wince when someone says Mustang II and Cobra Hahaha) I also had a 77 for parts, never did see any difference, course the parts car was gutted.
I want to say 77-78 but thats mostly due to the fact thats the only two years I even know vaguely well. I looked Identical to my '78, but I didnt really ever get to see much more then the nose / front quarters of it for any length of time.
I will say it did sound healthy..I would have to say it was modded a bit.. Those anemic 78 small blocks just did not have the heart that this thing had when he pulled the fly by after it was over. It was Red with black Graphics, had T-tops and front/rear spoilers/hood scoop .. if thats of any use figuring what year it was... Interior was a dark color, prolly black or dk blue.. can't say for certain.
