i need help!

:brick::brick::brick:i have a 2000 Z-28 a-4 and i keep geting a (SECURITY) light come on in my dash. as far as i know my car is a plain jane no securitysystem that i know of ??? .this only happens after i have driven and car is warm . it seems to be not letting the car start? im very puzzled and frustrated with this. does anyone know how to solve this problem.:brick::brick:it would be very appreciated. thanks phillip

Most likely you have a ignition cylinder going out. I think this is a part you can only get from the dealership as well, and if it goes out your car will not start. In fact you can not even push start it (I was stranded once about 300 miles from home when I found this out in my 94).

I have never heard of it happening though when the car has warmed up but I could be wrong.

It's probably the Vehicle Theft Deterrant system, which has something to do with the ignition cyl, and needs to be taken to GM Goodwrench for diagnosis.

Don't wait, you could get stranded somewhere.

hey thanks for the info . i did try to swap for a new key. but it really didnt help. it only happens after i driven and its cools down and starts right up.it's weird likes its a relay that has to cool but i replaced several of them already! i guess it goes to get a new ign switch . thanks guys! if you ever need anything in the hedder world. i work @ Hedman Husler race division in atl. i'llsee what i can do to help you in return. thanks phillip
