Need help picking out picking out brake rotors

I'm sick of the stock discs warping after 6 mo. Is there a good set of after market (slotted, drilled, whatever) that last longer then the lousy stock rotors?

Depends on how much $$ you want to spend & how you plan to use your car.

Personally I went with the Baer GT setup that included the Eradispeed 2-pc front rotors and the Eradispeed rear rotors - both crossdrilled and slotted. This setup uses the larger PBR calipers and the front rotors are both larger in diameter and thickness. Setup cost $1500 on sale.

The next step up is to go with the 6-piston calipers and runs over $2K

You can buy just the Eradispeed rotors for use with stock braking system for less $$.

Before Baer I used Powerslot rotors (only slotted) never had any trouble with them warping and liked them - just needed a little more stopping power to go with the increase in hp/tq!

Ahh, well I'm not looking for a big investment here. I don't have a stopping problem, only a warping problem. I looked at powerslot rotors. Do you need special pads if you go with slotted rotors?

Any type of ceramic pads would be good, low dusting etc. When I had the Powerslots I was running Raybestos QuietStop pads on the front & GM Durastop Pads on the rear.

I now have the Hawk HPS with the Baer Setup - but I think I'm going to go back to the above mentioned pads - HPS seem too hard for my use - I just started getting some brake squeal which I never had with the other pads and it annoys the snot out of me :yup:

There is another option.If you have 17" rims you can go to LG Motorsports and purchase some caliper brackets that allow you to switch to larger C5 rotors which from what I've been told have no problems with warping. You can even upgrade to C5/Z06 calipers later if you wish. Another bonus is that you can purchase C5 rotors from gmdirect.com for not much more than $20 each.Remember though that you must have 17" rims for this mod.

Well, I've been using ceramic pads since I've owned the car. Problem still persists. I've already had the rear rotors, pads, calipers replaced by a shop. Still have some vibration though, and now the brakes moan when I stop. I don't think they bled the lines properly. Guess I need the front set up replaced again too. It's only been 18 months since I did that last time :(

I have the wholesale direct rotor setup...slotted and drilled. For the money, not bad. I do however have a very mushy brake pedal. Does that have to do with the brakes I installed? dunno.

They're not cracked, still work fine. I don't drive it everyday tho. But I have had a lot of high speed stops.

If you don't want anything fancy, I have been very happy with the Brembo OEM replacement blank rotors. They were like $50 each, and I run stock pads. I bought them from TireRack.

My stock rotors lasted about 8,000 miles. The Brembos have 20k on them now and are nice and smooth.

powerslot does the job, no more warping problem for my 1999 transam i put it on with powerstop crossed drilled rotors fit all 16" wheels

I'm just gonna keep turning my rotors until they get too thin to turn anymore then I'm swapping the system for a C5 conversion. Those Baer systems are sweet but a conversion kit is about half the price. And if you want, you can always use Baer rotors on the C5 system.

No complaints from my KVRs drilled and slotted, with 50k or so on them. Originally put them on my first car and xferred them to this one.

Got them on a GP on this board for a good price as I recall.

I have 46,000 on my OEM rotors and still stops nice and smooth. Always used the stock replacement pads from GM. :dunno:

You are lucky - I was until recently with the stock ones. I only had one warp, but I replaced the front ones immediately. Have seen MANY folks with warped stock rotors.

My friend just ordered a set front and rear drilled and slotted rotors from WS6Project for $170. I know people dont like the drilled because can crack and such but for the price they look sweet on and if they dont warp for 1-2 sets of pads then its worth it.
