Yes it can be done.
so, is there a limit to how long in duration? or can you just throw a huge cam with matching heads and then slap on an atp procharger?

You can, you just don't want or need a big cam. The blower will do all the work. ;)

No you don't want a huge cam. A LSA like 115 or better will not bleed off boost as much.

You do not want a big cam with a blower. it is of utmost importantance to make sure the intake valve closes early enough.

We use a Comp grind for forced induction for those customer's who want to have a lumpy idle with their forced induction. It works amazingly well, and is the cam we installed in the twin turbo Corvette we built and also in the STS Camaro SS. The spec's for it can be found in the project car section of my website in the info on the STS Camaro. Bob

Here is the answer to the first questions yes "are there any drawbacks to forced induction?"

Yes here is the list:

Gas cost (since you'll want to be on it all the time)
Speeding Tickets
Lawyer Fees, Tow cost, Inpound cost & Court cost to get out the slammer when you get cought doing over a 100mph on the highway.
Lawyer fees when the wife finds out how much you spend on the car or that she'll have to bail you out of jail (whichever happens first).
Pink slip when you walts into the office an hour late but you left home 2 hours early.
A slap in the face from the old lady waiting to cross the intersection, because she though you where wistting at her when you stop at the light.
Tire cost
Becoming Frequent Buyer at one of the Sponsor's store due to the increasingly rising amount of broken parts, caused by too much HP and TQ.

As far as your other questions :iagree:

Killer Bluebird, look at the bright side:
You develop a great relationship with your tire supplier, whose eyes light up whenever you enter the store.:burnout:
