CD Changer Serial Data

Does anyone know the nature of the serial data that goes between the head unit and the cd changer? There are only 6 wires that plug into the cd changer: power, ground, serial data (to / from radio), audio right, audio left, and audio ground. I'm trying to make a an auxiliary input using the cd changer input but the head unit won't switch to the "AUX" input unless it "sees" a cd changer there. Has anyone ever successfully tricked the head unit into thinking a changer is there? Thanks.

they make a harness for the radio that does exactly what you are seeking... I think it's made by PAC

I know they do. I wanted to do it myself but the information about the serial stream is nowhere to be found.

You will never find the information. You will have to reverse-engineer it, much as the guys who make the USB-->Headunit adapters did... same with the Ipod-->Headunit adapters... takes some serious work...

That sure would be neat if that information was readily available though....
