i'm havin problems with my security light coming on, stranding me for a while, my question is can i just put the resistor in the key as long as the key is the problem? i know its some ghetto shit, but i can't afford a new key, and i'm really worried about my car being stolen if i disable the system
and help/suggestions/advice is greatly appreciated, thanks

The problem might not be the key resistor - don't know how you'd replace it anyway. I'd bypass VATS under the dash so you won't get stranded or call around and see if places like ACE hardware/Walmart/etc. can make you one - I know the dealers are expensive.

vats is a bitch. The gm vehicles with vats had 15 different resistors with a slightly different impedance. What most people do is order the resistor they need and wire it straight in the wire but thats kinda risky business. ive been through this whole kindof deal. this girl was playin with my keys and the resistor popped out. i went to a legitimate key company and they redid one for about 30 bucks i think. but you gotta have your papers on you and id and all.
