Hi everyone.. I have a 99 Silverado and was wondering if I can get a newer switch that allows me to turn the lights off and re-wire it?? I don't like the fact that I can't turn my lights off like the newer models have.......
Which leads to the next question... does anyone have a wiring diagram for the 99 models and say, a 2004? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks, Edward

You can replace the light sensor (varible resistor) in the dash with a fixed value resistor...it'll trick the BCM into thinking it's always light outside and you can turn the lights on/off when you want. I can't remember what the value of the resistor is...but if you search the site you'll find it.

My curiousity is changing out the switch for a newer one.. 2003 and up that has the provisions to turn off the lights at the flick of the switch... I've looked on the back of each switch and was wondering if I would be able to re-wire the harness so that it would work with the newer switch.... I like the feature of the automatic lights on at dusk and dont want to change that...
Any ideas? Has anyone tried this?
Thanks, Edward

From everything I've read on it (I have a 99 also), you would have to use a newer BCM for the switch to work like you want it to. I was thinking about wiring in the resistor, but having it switchable so I could have auto lights or not.

Yea you're right..he'll need a 00+ BCM and a new switch.
