Lift motor for header install??

I was going to have my friends dad install my headers for me. but he says he can't do it in his driveway because you have to lift the motor on one side. I've heard that this isn't always necessary for the latest pacesetter LT's.

I know I'll have to pay more at the shop but some have offered $300 and thats not a bad deal. What have you guys done for LT installs?

you shouldnt have to lift the motor, even if you do, its not a big deal. You just have to make sure you get the car high enough to get the Lt in there from underneath.

you don't need to raise the engine...just take off the exhuast manifolds..and wiggle em in there..it took me n my friends 2 days to install them..

Done it a few times now.. like above.. get it high enough, and you can wiggle them in.. PS fit REALLY well! Save the $300 for other mods. Good luck!

Maybe on certain cars you have to.. and then again, it MIGHT maker it EASIER, not faster.. but MAYBE easier... With a set of gear wrenches, some pb blaster/wd40, a couple extensions with a wobble, and a universal joint, its not hard at all. Just expect to donate a little bit of blood to your car. :) Good time to replace your plugs and wires too.

that would be my first guess. It's not a job most really look forward to. I had to trim the casting plug a little on the drivers side of the block to get mine in. Not a hard job, just time consuming and I'm guessing he really doesn't want to spend a weekend under your car. Tackle it yourself. Use the write ups and follow them to the letter and you'll be fine. Hand tools are all that you need. The only tricky part is getting the car up that high on stands. I really didn't like that part at all but once you have the headers in place in the engine bay you can let the car back down to a safer level to finish the install.

mine is a 98. (dont know if it matters) p/s slid right in. d/s motor mount on the motor side needed to be un bolted and raise about 2 inches. wanst bad though. just a killer on the neck and back.......laying on the floor and all..
