Okay, so yesterday my coolant light came on. I checked my coolant while it was cool, and it was at the mid point on the stick. I filled it up so that it went to the FULL line. I drove the car a few hours later, and the light came on again! And today, the same thing happened. Mind you, the temp gauge never goes above 180*. I've heard that the coolant sensor has a reputation for going out. I was also told that these babies are about $80 a pop! I've also noticed no collection of coolant under the car. Was thinking my water pump might be going out, but I haven't heard any funny noises. Also wasn't sure if it might be a problem with the head gaskets.

If you are not leaking any coolant then it is your coolant level sensor. Mine went out also, I just unplugged it and zip tied it out of the way. I too did not want to pay 80$ for a sensor. I watch my guages religiously so I dont feel the need for the coolant level sensor.

Thanks.
I'm gonna try to see if I can get hooked up with a new sensor...not in too much of a hurry, though.

Well, I finally got that thingamajig replaced. It was the coolant sensor. That thing was completely corroded; looked nothing like the new one I bought.
