Soo just a little while ago i go to get some food on my luch break... well i am driving to meet up with my dad for lunch and i am at a light i see this Viper i think 99ish... well he is behind me i am like SWEET soo we turn onto the road and he freaking guns the mofo and is bellowing out black smoke and so i slow down and all the sudden i hear bang... the viper pulls over and the guy gets out and looks like he just saw the devil... haha i think he blew something i feel bad for him but at the same time he flew past me in a turn lane what an ass!

I've always liked the original style when they came out.. with the 3 spoke rims and side exhaust.. but as far as performance... there is either an 06 or 07 candie apple Viper in town (guy is a complete douchbag), but several of the car members have raced him... he was dogging me on the highway for about a halfmile before I decided to just say fffuck it.. we hit it at 60 and he slowly moved ahead to about a car and a half and stayed there up to about 120 when I backed down... did it again.. about the same... then I slowed way the hell down and so did he.. got to 30 and hit it.. (I think he missed a shift, cause I pulled ahead and stayed there to about 110 when I backed down again)... and I don't have a whole lot done to mine...

The new viper will be making 600hp, with a 8.3 high comp v-10, they keep making motor that can keep up with the vette but not quite win, with the new 653hp vette, not to mention vipers cost more and only get 12mpg city lol, and thats not even getting on it thats just driving, i bet if i had that car I would get 8mpg, i used to get 10 with my 450hp 79 malibu with a 10 gallon tank lol, i had to refill ever other day or if i was racing twice in 5 hours lol.

I was at the racetrack the other night and there was a guy there with a 95 bright yellow viper talking all kinds of shit. It was midnight drags so 10$ got you all the passes you wanted. The funny as hell thing is that the viper did not win one race the whole night! I think he raced about 4 or 5 times. And by the way not one of the guys he raced didnt have a civic! The anouncer was giving him so much crap.......told him to sell his car and by a jetta. Damn it was funny!

i love the viper...and i think comparing the vette and viper are like comparing apples and oranges..both are completely different tastes...but taste good. the viper is just a pure raw muscle car...period..just like the old school days..shove the biggest n/a engine possible into a car. no power steering , power windows, tcs ect...no automatic...thats how the viper started out...and even now..no s/c...and very little creature comforts. i want that car badly. now a vette..even from the get-go was designed more for top technology ..and creature comforts...and now the new vette has all the creature comforts in the word and more of a supercar..then a straight muscle car.

...and torque because a v10 has plenty of it. its the weight that kills it im afraid.

LS6 intake, Pacesetters, ported MAF, MS3 Cam with supporting mods, TD's, all free mods, all rear suspension, SFC's, 3600 stall, moser 9 with 4.11's, tune (soon as it gets out of the shop they have it right now tuning it :nana:) and a lil 150 shot. Plus my car is right around 3375 lbs so I'm pretty sure I will get him especially with the DR's on.

Yes the viper is heavier than the zo6, approx 200-300 lbs, but still doing the hp/weight calculations, the heavier 600 hp viper should still come out on top. Of course this is on paper, now the real world is another story. Hopefully the viper engineers are underrating the 08 viper. Also those tending to bash the viper should take into account that most auto enthusiasts agree that the current "horsepower war" that we all are witnessing would not be present without dodge's decision to produce the viper in the 90s. I am finally relieved that GM is taking the vette to supercar levels and I hope dodge responds in the same way. Competition will only make the choices for the consumer more vast, and ultimately we all are the winners.

Lastly, having owned a C5 6 years ago, there is some value for exclusivity. If we all only drove the best bang for the buck, we would all be in built/forced inducted 4th gen fbodies. Most of us here can tell a new zo6 from a standard c6, but for the masses, 98% of them think they are all the same. Oh and don't forget the c6 owner with newly bought zo6 badges. For some of us, the more exclusive car is a way of separating ones self from the everyday cars, even if it means that the car you chose is slightly less performing

They are heavy and hard to launch, and there are upgrade vipers, the venom the hennesey viper, that are insane prices.Vipers are nice but too expensive, the new z06 is just as fast handles better, is lighter and cheaper. Also the viper gets like 13mpg driving nice in the city and like 17 highway, the 7.0liter vette 25 highway baby.

i'd simmer down because the fact is that the viper is a whole other creature then the vette. period. i love the Z. it is faster..just a hair. and handles well. but i have had the privilege of driving a 03 viper srt10 and a 05 Z06 and i can say that at least for me the viper fits my wants more. i didnt get to really push the Z because mr.powell just picked it up. but was selling his viper so that could skew my feelings. but the viper is just a very crude big muscular car..really a basic..primal feeling...you, torque and tons of power and the road. and thats the feeling i love. the vette is a whole different feeling...you feel like a GT class racer...you feel like tight, latched in..and with plenty of power to have fun. but w/e you need to chill your ass out 2000. if you want to talk about overpriced..talk about the GT. and dont ever talk about gas mileage when comparing sportscars. you might as well compare floor mats while your at it :jerkit:

fair enough..but on that standard so is the ls7 compared to the carrera 5.7 L DOHC V10 or ferriari's v8 line..but i will give you that the vipers engine could have alot more power. but 525 tq/ft is nice regardless. but we will agree to disagree

This is true, but look at the 2008. 8.4L v-10 with 600bhp and 550 ft/lbs of tq. It may be nose heavy and ineffecient, but its like that for a reason. The people that buy these things only want it to be different and for its image. Sure they could put a HEMI in it that is smaller, more powerful, and more effecient, but then it wouldn't have the status of a handbuilt v-10. The HEMI name has been tarnished in the same manner that Chevy's SS nameplate has been. There are only a few thousand Vipers built each year to keep its exotic status. :drivin:

This is completely off topic but i saw a c5 z06 with forged internals and a roots style supercharger at hwy 100 the other day, which is where everyone races, he took me for a ride now that is my dream car it had the annoying supercharger whine on a ls2 lol. He ran low 9s with it and it drove so nice. Thats what i want and personally i would rather have a tricked out Trans Am or vette over a tricked out viper.

They only reason i dont like vipers is because there engine is so inefficient, think about it a 8.0liter or the 8.3liter V-10 only make as much power as GMs 7.0liter v8, ok its make 5more hp. Its a waste of engine

a waste? wtf? its a v10. and i can guarantee you the ls7 wont ever see the torque that mopar motor will....ever.

the point is that dodge was safe in my opinion. i think that either its very conservatively tuned or they fibbed the numbers. no doubt in my mind it could be a monster in its current form. 2 more cylinders, more cubes, more torque.

the vette is so light that it equalizes what it lacks in rwtq. its built entirely different for an entirely different purpose. the corvette was never a drag car, it started on the oval track and developed into an instrument for the track...just so happens its fast as shit down the strip.

the viper however is well behaved (from what ive read) on the track but theres really no fucking doubt what it came to do...not that any of the mostly douche bag owners would take it to the drag strip anyway.

you also cited hennessy as an expensive aftermarket tuner for the viper, i suppose to make more of a case for the z06. ever heard of lingenfelter? they arent exactly cheap either.
