What is a torque converter, and how does it different from gears? What difference will you feel in a torque converter and how much "generally" are they to install?

a torque converter is like a fluid coupling from your engine to your tranny. the stall speed is the rpm in which it engages and moves your car. it's kinda like an automatic clutch

They can be expensive.. depending on what kind, how big of a stall and who you go with.. just like anything. Is this a daily driver? A weekend driver? What are you plans? People are selling them all the time if you are patient. And as far as the install... if you are somewhat mechanically inclined and have a few tools.. you can do it yourself for the cost of tranny fluid pretty much.. me and 2 buddies did it on his LT1 a few weeks back... took and afternoon, and we really had no idea what we were doing, didn't rush, drank some beer.. and had to run to the store twice for tranny fluid.. lol.

My plans aren't big because it is my daily driver my newest planned upgrades are a ported and polished throttle body, 3.73 richmond gears, full dyno tune, and the torque converter. what size converter you suggest i go with? and also kind of a stupid question but did it come with directions for the install lol?

I would suggest 3200-3600.. and if you have to ask.. either find a local car club.. or have it done.. you need to unbolt and drop the trasnmission to takeout the old one and put in the new one.
