Car -98 Z28 A4

Reacently found roller bearings from my oilplug which means I have faulty rocker bearings.

Car is completely stock now (exluding some computer programming)

I'm planning to put following parts in to support future mods.

- Rocker Arms Crane Gold-Race 144759-16 (set includes: rockers, studs, pushrods, quideplates)
- Valve Springs: Crane Dual Springs, Pt. No. 144832-16
- Valve Spring Retainers: Crane Titanium, Pt. No. 144661-16
- Lower Spring Seats: Crane, Pt. No. 144460-16

Question is, are the stock valvelocks adequate or should I change new ones without hesitation?

Second question is what is the stock valvelock size and angle? Any suggestions what to get?

Stock pieces should work fine. Call or email Crane to be certain, but I used my stock locks.

crane can get you locks but the stock ones will work fine
now then you can get locks with the groove in different locations
whether it be bottom middle or top of course this is for several things you can change the clearance and increase the spring pressure using a bottom groove keeper but watch out for retainer to stem seal clearance good luck with new internals

Thanks for the info!

Rockers and the other stuf I mentioned is now installed. I went with the stock locks.

However when I study the original rockers I can't see any damage on them or any sign that which one might miss a roller or two. Does anyone have a info how this bearing malfunction should look like and what to look for?

Maybe those rollers were from a failed rocker that had already been replaced by a previous owner.

you want to grab each roller in your hand and see if it is tight on the roller shaft or if there is a lot of slop if you find the sloppy one there is your culprit another thing to look for is flat spots on the rollers
