billet 3-4 servo

i have asked this before but have not received a straight answer,

i know it is forged aluminum over the cast right?

i need to know what does it do when it is installed, is it just stronger to take more line pressure without breaking(my tranny has b@m shift kit,TQ management removed, line pressure on valve body up, and during tune line pressure up)or does it somehow quicken shifts? or hold clutch packs tighter?

thanks for any feedback, just trying to make the 4l60e take the abuse

I have a billet Superior 2-4 servo, and my vehicle shifts from 1st to 2nd really hard and crisp, it takes the slop out of the shifts, having more of a surface that the hydraulic fluid goes over. I really do not understand the entire concept, however I did notice a big difference in the crispness of the tranny shifts over the stock LS6 unit in my 2001 Z28.

ls6 unit? my car is an 2000 do i have the ls6 unit , and did you mean 3-4 servo? my 1-2 shift is great i do notice a little slop or split second hesitation with the 2-3 shift, what did yours run $$$$

this does seem like a good mod and if i do do this i will also get one of those deep tranny pans with the fins during install, also i still need tranny cooler

I believe it is called a 2-4 servo, it is located on the outside of the transmission and is cirular in design, I purchased it through the transmission shop that did the converter change for $135, that's with him making his profit.

I do not know if the 2000 vehicles had the LS6 unit, however if it did not, you benifited even more having a beefier unit.

I believe Jeg's sells just the "guts" to beef up the stock unit, for about $65, I just had the entire unit replaced.

It has to do with 4th gear only, it will make the shift firmer and quicker. The more modifications you do, raise line pressure, bigger feed hole in the separator plate, etc., can make the 4th apply firmer.

I would also upgrade the input drum to one of those that at least has the steel ring pressed on it. Notorious weak spot on the 4L60E. that and the shafts themselves.
