okay well i am a fleet manager and shop supervisor for a demo company here in so cal. i am in charge of 35 on road vehicles and a few tractors and misc shit.

so any ways one guy comes to me and says his truck is makin noise so i said okay ill take a look. no check engine light no codes so im like shit, we got a big internal problem here.

the engine is the 5.4 3valve, so after a pain in the ass time taking off most of the engine haness i can finally remove the valve cover and what do i see!http://i196.photobucket.com/albums/aa268/camarojunky74/ford.jpg
look at the 3rd lobe on the cam. do you see the fat groove in it. what happened was i think the cheap oil filters being used on the truck from a local place doing the oil changes on this truck, i would do them but im so busy i dont have time to change the oil on the f150s at my work.
but anyways total loss of lubrication and the cam follower broke. and seeing how this section of the engine is the farthest from the oil pump. there ya go. enjoy

Just be glad you did not have to change the spark plugs. Mechanics I talked to said the new spark plugs on that 5.4 have a tendency to break off, 90% of the time they have to pull the engine to change the plugs wich is funny really. Someone said they were like 35 dollars a piece to. As of right now, dealerships are just absorbing the loss, and charging the flat spark plug rate, but that will not last. Ford better get their shit together. I mean, who redesigns the spark plug?!?!?

yeagh i read about the spark plug tsb, and before i read it my plan was to change the plugs while all the shit was off , but after i heard about that problem i decided to just leave them, and when it comes time for new plugs just send it in lol,
