water temp gauge??

i am using a mechanical water temp gauge do i have to take off the water pump to drill and tap for the fitting?? if i do it on the car will the little metal shavings harm anything?

Uh, do not drill and tap anything on the car that could even possibly get shavings inside the engine.... :think:

I can't tell you where to find another coolant port though...
