Breaking of Rules

It seems lately there have been alot of members breaking the rules. We have been pretty lenient on enforcing them. But this has to stop.

Just like the Police have random speed traps, we will have warning traps.

For one or two days a month, we will hand our warnings for every rule that is broken until this madness stops.

So this is your warning that you will get warnings. So no complaints.

Ripping on MODS, Poop Threads, Threads that do nothing but allow for post whoring to raise one's post count, intentionally/knowing breaking the rules and sitting back and waiting to see how the MODS will react, flaming of members, etc...

It should be policy and what should i be careful for? No one debates anymore anyways Poli section is just a part of the board where members can trash each other. No debating goes on there i have maybe 5/6 post in there in the last few weeks maybe just a few more than that yet the same people who said it was "bigrus editing his post and getting us in trouble" still got banned on thier own by going after other people so obviously debating is the last thing on most of thier minds and its not me "pushing them to flame" that is getting them in trouble.

The board has grown a bit hostile and some members have resulted in digging up peoples phone/work #'s mine included and decided it would be funny to make slick threats because they cannot handle the internet.

The people who get banned here is few and far between you have to really try your hardest to troll to get banned. The second time you get a ban its clear you are just getting under peoples skin on purpose. The proof is with all the people with more than two bans under their names they come back and just start trolling/attacking people again trying to get away with whatever they can because they realize the board is relaxed enough not to catch all the shit they do.

Good call Ed. I have experienced your issues before. I use to Moderate a Forum and @ one point there was too much favoritism with some of the fellow moderators as to whom they allowed to continue the BS. Whole lotta issues that got straightened out. Good luck with it.

I think if you guys ban a person ban them for good. You can usually tell if its the same loser you banned by their profile.

Its accually easier then using the profile to track people. Some are acually smart enough to not do that . You can track their IP's and ban that IP. There is also a system that can be turned on to track multiple Accounts from the same IP.

My guess is they will go and visit an "area" where infractions are known to be taking place, and lower the boom on those they see doing so.

Making a thread that intentionally violates rules just to entice others to bad-mouth would be like website entrapment.

From what I've seen here, they don't need to do that. Plenty of work to be done just in plain sight!!!

And I'm all FOR discretion on the part of the moderators!!!

You can get perm ban for breaking any rule. But to be fair the system will hand out and record all warnings. So when you do get banned, you know it was coming.

The system will perm ban you after 4 bans.

Temp banned means a few days vacation. Perma Ban means you aren't coming back period, as in permanently.

Not sure I understand your question, Kage's account is permabanned though. If someone gets a temp ban by the system due to the points they had, you will see temporarily banned under their name.

This is an LS1 site, import threads bring out all the import trolls. They trash the thread with their import bragging and exaggerations about the performance of their cars, and then when someone responds (me) they get in trouble.

If you would just address the issue of trolls in the first place, there wouldn't be an issue.

we have a domestic and foreign section. it's there for a reason. it's not up to you to decide who a troll is. it's the admin and moderators job. period.

we have people on both sides of the fence bragging about their performance. it's not just imports.

i address both ends of the conversation. if you wouldn't respond to the trolls, there wouldn't be any issues.

this rule is your friend. follow it and you'll be golden around here.

Moderators get a break on what they do because they do a job very few want to do since it takes alot of time.

This is the most relaxed f-body forum on the net you really have to keep going against what they say to get into trouble here. Moderators give alot of "hey cut it out" and ed has given tons of members alot of chances. Hell many people have done things that can get them perma banned but ed cuts them some slack anyways.

The rule is simple if you have a issue moderators and admins are able to be contacted via PM or email. Making it a public issue makes what you say more of an attack since you have a few people who just want to jump in and attack the moderators or the site anyways.

If you cannot get in touch with a admin or moderator just make a thread in the request and feedback forum asking for one to contact you but do not put the issue in the thread if it happens to be a problem with a admin or moderator.

yea....i have to admit...when i came here (when i didnt care about staying on this forum or not)...i was trolling, flaming, idk...everything that i wasnt supposed to...if i did that somewhere else...im sure i would get perma banned in an instant..but the chances the mods give...that they arent obliged to...make this the most favorable f-body forum to be on. Now i see how useful this place can be..not only because you can shoot the S**t in aag...but the tech section is very useful sometimes...i wouldnt mind staying on here...

"taking back the site" works for me, making people follow the rules will provide a better experience for everyone, before the last crash this site was so out of hand i couldnt even post without getting seriously harassed, and now that its a lot better i'd like to be able to continue to post here... so im all for this. :)
