i was messing with the egr tube that attaches to the top of the air intake and the rubber gasket/ring fell in the intake manifold......so i took the whole thing out because the gasket rolled toward the back since car was lifted up front.....

anyways i had my son stick his hand in there and get it, but when he brought it back out, his arm was full of sticky, black like oil :hmm: so i took a look in there and it looks all dirty and sticky......

is this supposed to be this way???????i would think its supposed to be clean and smooth to allow air to flow smooth.....i used some throtle body cleaner on the parts i could reach but that was very minimal.....what could cause this residue??????whats best way to clean it (if need be)??????i suspect the prev. owner used nos in it, could this be another sign that he did??????

thanks in advance guys/gals, always amazed at all the help i get here.....:naughtywa

Oil is sucked through the PCV, its a fact of life.

ls1's have been know to use a lot of oil through the pcv valve and into the intake manifold. There's a catch can mod that most people do....which is pretty much just a can in the pcv hose line, so the oil stays in the can instead of your intake. Anyone have the link to the site that sells them?

also you might wanna take the manifold off and clean that crap outta there....and while it's off might as well put a ls6 manifold on :yup:

next mod saving for.....so might as well leave it, plan on doing here shortly. no reason to take off, clean and then replace......will i need the catch when i replace with the ls6 manifold??????

no but it's a good idea to do the catch can to keep your new manifold clean...but can be done at anytime. You'll need the ls6 manifold with the egr though...unless you delete your egr system.

yeah you'll have the same problem with the ls6 intake but there is a mod that can be done instead.

...crap, I can't post urls yet. I used to have some history here....

check out ls1howto and look for the ls1 to ls6 pcv conversion, you can't miss it.
