between the ls1 vette HP rating and the Camaro Ls1 HP rating?

i talked to a mechenic at work and he said it was to make the 60K sports car(vette) look much more dominate the the 35K sports car(camaro), he also said with the whole SLP options its very common for camaros to be in the 360-370HP range

so why does everyone think we have ALOT less hp, and on a side not he also dynoed his stock c5 vette(ls1) and he pulled 341HP

341 HP at the crank!

Those things dyno around 290-300 on average.

Factory ringer crap is a lot of bull. I will not believe that a tighter factory tolerance is going to give you and extra 50 HP, it just ain't possible.

I have found that your average NAPA, TIRE KING mechanics don't know their ass from their elbow, but SOUND like they do.

The vette has to be portrayed as the top dog so GM will never say any other car line has as much power.

Some of these cars are monsters stock, but most will only dyno around 300 give or take some rwhp.

The only real difference in the Vette/Camaro HP wise is that the Vette does have a better flowing exhaust (not enough for the advertised gains).

They all dyno pretty much the same. Vette also has IRS which eats hp. 330hp stock is just a generous dyno.

Dyno is off calibration if the 341 and 330 figures are rwhp. The Vette's better exhaust is offset by its IRS, so they dyno the same or slightly lower than a comparable F-body. Either way 300rwhp is a good rule-of-thumb. The Vettes were rated at 350HP and that is pretty accurate.

ok but what about the Dual Duals SLP...is the vettes Still better flowing then that?Yes. Vette=h pipe, F bod=y pipe.

Yes. Vette=h pipe, F bod=y pipe.

so even with a good exhaust the vette will still flow better? just because of the ypipe?

The Vette's dual set-up is a better system as it has a crossover and is truly dual. Will it outflow a full 3-inch Y-pipe to 4-inch Mufflex cat-back? No. But by then you are comparing apples to oranges...
