I was thinking about getting some tires for winter - but wanted to use the 10 spoke rim 17x9. I was thinking about the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S tires - has anyone used them before? Or can someone recommend some other tire to be used with the 17x9 rim?

Save your money and buy something else that works better. I recommend a 285/40R17 BFG KDWS on a 17X9 or 17X9.5. It will give a little extra rim protection and inset your rim in the rubber a touch more. -Tim

I think I found a better tire for winter - the Dunlope M3. It comes in a 265/40/R17 - a touch smaller, but it's a high performance winter tire.
Have you used the KDWS before?

i have used all the above mentioned tires. for winter the best you will find is bridgestone SO3. something less expensive but still z rated would be sumitumo htr+. pilot sports are very hard compound and are loud and not very good in the rain. my friend had the KDWS tires on his v-6 mustang and in the rain not speeding mind you, he (in a one legger) wound up in someones front porch.

KDWS has been a gem to me in snow. Of course being smart and adding weight over the axle helps. In my case, I put 5- 50lb bags of playsand in the rear well of my Firebird, that and being cautious, I went anywhere I wanted to and had no problems. I ran 285/40R17's on the rear, And they are W speed rated. It is also a great rain tire.
