im getting ready to pull the starter soon since it went out on me a few weeks ago but dont know where to start. or is this the right way:
You disconnect the battery, jack the car up unbolt the starter, unplug the wires, replace solenoid?, put new starter on plug wires back up lower car back down re-connect battery and your done?
oh almost forgot while car is still jacked up check the flywheel for cracks.
does all that sound right or am i missing something?

First of all as soon as you jack up the car put jack stands under the car! !!!!!!!!!NEVER TRUST A JACK ALONE !!!!!!!!!!!

I would also suggest purchasing a starter with the solenoid to save some trouble!

Besides that sounds alright.

have you had your starter tested? you may want to do that before replacing it.

thanks again and no i haven't had it tested.....all i know i went outside one day to start my car and all it did was make a loud whine noise luckily a mechanic that i know was outside and he said it sounds like the starter isn't engaging the flywheel.
