I changed my fuel filter yesterday. My car has 45,000 miles on it and the filter was NASTY. I think it was probably the original one. It was on my list of things to do for awhile, but I thought it would be a real PITA, so I didn't. My advice to those of you who are putting it off, is don't. It took 15 minutes to change and couldn't be easier. I can only imagine the shit that got through and made into my injectors.

It's located just in front of the rear driver's side tire.

Yes, I actually cut it open. It looked like it was full of mud. Sorry, no pics. I tossed it in the trash.

I just replaced mine for the first time, after ... eh ... 75K miles :sillyme: plus around 1000 miles of E85. It was pretty nasty so I took a few pictures. Here they are:
