Yes and no. It depends on tires, up-keep, and technique. If you hold your left foot on the brake and mat the gas pedal, it most definately should. If you only use your right foot and go from the brake to the gas, it might. The better (stickier) the tire, the less likely they'll go up in smoke. The poorer the general maintenance and upkeep, the less likely they'll go up in smoke (e.g. dirty air filters, clogged fuel filters, old spark plugs, dirty MAF, lazy O2 sensors, etc.).

Just get a 3600 stall, and you will smoke them all day.

Mine could do it with the 2.73's in it and 315/35/17 tires. Much easier lowered as well.

My M6 will easily burn the tires all the way thru 1st... leaves a nice 30' stretch of rubber on the road... of course thats dropping the clutch around the 2k mark! :naughty:

Try 5,000 and 2nd gear! :D

j/k - don't do that. You might not want to replace the rear end yet. ;)

yeah, my a4 with 3.23 burns almost clear through 1st, and chirps going into second (i have a lid and exhaust but that doesn't make that big of diff) on pr 75% tires

Tread depth doesn't matter nearly as much as rubber compound. Any LS1 can smoke the sh!t out of some all season 80,000 mile tire from a slow roll. Throw a set BFG DR's on an try that....

BFG actually.. and at this rate I should... :D

I got an m6 transmission with 3.42 ratio rear, if I drop clutch I mean, just pull foot off as fast as possible in first gear with 2k rpms revved, it won't just twist my driveshaft or shatter my u-joint?

astyles, what is an SCT, and how does one up theline pressure...ummm what line are we talking about? And no, I dont mind lookin stupid if it adds smoke to the tires :)

With a little mods you can do the same taking off in 2nd gear!

SCT is a handheld (like a Hypertech or a Predator + or - a few functional options). Line pressure is refering to the hydraulic transmission lines. Greater line pressures provide firmer/harsher shifts.

ok,thanks. I have a Hypertech but hear the Vinci is better so my sell the H3 and get one of those.I really need 3:73 gears though, the 2:73 I have just dont kick hard enough But Im gun shy on doing the swap myself and the shops want an arm to do it.

when i had my old tires on i BURNT thru 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and chirped them REAL good in fourth......the new ones just chirp in second, hell the only way they break loose with my DYING stock clutch is sliding a corner from a stop........
