Last month Sarge mentioned he was running an oil catch can. The idea seems to be preventing oil vapors entering the intake manifold. Is this a good idea on a lightly modified LS1? Is $175 a good price for one? Should the catch can be directly vented?
I am looking at doing this as I do my heads.

$175 is ludicrous. I paid $95 for mine which I feel is still way to high. Is your car drinking oil? If you haven't checked or don't know then check. If your throttle body blade is dry then you don't need one.

^^^Is that catch can hooked up right? It doesn't look like you have it hooked up to pull from the valve cover :dunno:
It doesn't prevent vapors from entering the manifold...it just seperates the oil from the vapors that is pulled up through the pcv line. The catch can can't be vented because then you wouldn't get good vacuum....but it doesn't need to be because all the vapors that are pulled in will also be pulled out. I hooked mine up in-line before the actual pcv valve and it worked great...caught about 1/2 a can between oil changes.

It's hooked up to an LS6 valley cover. Valve covers are capped.
