weird.. stuck in fourth gear???

ok last night on my way to work i drove about 22 miles and was almost there.. while going through a small town my shifter got stuck in fourth.. i FREAKED!!.. so i hit it a few times and pushed on it and nothing... depressed the clutch and still nothing.. finally after a couple min it finally cmae loose...any ideas as to what may have cause this... the weird part is i just posed another thread named shifter problem where i heard a weird metalic hum comming from fourth when im driving... any relation?

any help would be great!!

i got a 2000 and mine did it today on a hill! i think i hit my shifting a bit with my arm while i was messing with radio dunno if that was probem or not

Happened to mine once when it was new. I think just jammin gears sometimes it'll get stuck in there. May wanna try a Pro 5.0 or Ripper shifter with stops on it to prevent overtraveling.
