What trannsy is in the 98-02 V6s? are they the same ones that are in the LS1?

Reason for questioning is because motor swap (3.8 V6-5.7 LS1) mite be coming soon and needs to know if new trannsy is needed.

Yes it's a 4L60e but it won't have items like the corvette servo and some of the heavier duty items put into the LS1 versions.

So what would I need? Can I do a straight swap motor or motor or do I need to do some things to the tranmsisson

What I guess im trying to say is, will there be a problem when I do the LS1 swap with the V6 when it comes down to hooking the actual transmission to it?

easy answer. your v6 trans won't fit the LS1.

So if its the same transmission, what do I need to do to get it to fit?

which goes back to what i stated. they are both 4L60E transmissions, internally. the case that holds it all is what's different.

kinda like a black and white person. on the inside the same parts. on the outside, different skin.

 perfect agnology(sp) when its all said and done it would be cheaper and less hassle to buy a ls1 then to swap a v6 - ls1

As far as the work goes im not too worried about, i still have my 300ZX to drive around and its hard to find a good LS1 car at a good price around here so thats why im considering the swap due to insurance and idk lol
