I hope you are the right person to speak with. I was contacted regarding your 2008 LS1.com calendar. I am thrilled to see that you guys are almost finished putting yours together. However, I noticed this year that you are using an image we were given for our calendar last year. As I am sure you agree, producing a calendar with unique images is a goal we all share. When we receive submissions, I always request that the person sign a waiver giving LS1Tech full ownership of the images so that they can not be reproduced elsewhere. I assume you do the same because obviously we do not want the same images showing up elsewhere. Although you are not using the exact same image as the one seen in our 2007 LS1Tech calendar, it is extremely similar (vehicle, background, model, etc.). I usually do not take submissions from vehicles that I know will be in another calendar because I know that members will be purchasing both and my goal is to offer variety and of course, respect in regard to other sites. I know the members want to be in them all, but I would like to figure out a way to keep this from happening in the future. Again, my concern isn't so much the legal angle but the unique angle. I would like to communicate with you to determine how we can keep pictures from being shared across both calendars. Let me know if this is a concern for you and if you would like to discuss these issues.

jaison already stated the judges are still deciding. they cant inform whose cars are in or not based off of an open decision.

Wow, I was actually trying to approach you in a polite manner. I assumed you were looking for the best interest of the members. I guess I was wrong. Seeing as how LS1Tech normally produces their calendar first, I was trying to HELP you. In the past, I have had enough respect for this site not to publish pictures of people that you will have in your upcoming calendar. I guess we should not make that an issue. If you don't mind reproducing our used pictures, that doesn't really bother me. However, using a picture from a photoshoot that LS1Tech owns the rights to could get sticky unless a copyright is provided... but I was trying not to make that an issue. I guess your response to my email shows in which direction you would like to take this. Good luck with your calendar!

Besides, how in the HELL was Jaison suppose to know who entered here and there. It is not LS1's responsibility to check other sites. If anyone is to blame it is he who submitted pics here and there. Since he "signed" a waiver he should not have submitted the same pics to ls1, because technicaly the submitted pics were no longer his. Ls1 is in no way responsible.

Lets not screw up a good thing here. Everyone wants to get a calendar, and with limited real estate, decisions needed to be made based on one or more qualifications. There could have been issues with size, quality, light, non-themed pics (as they said from day one themed pics would have presidence, etc. If you didn't get in, just means you have plenty of time to think of a great pic for next year. Just like last year, there weren't pics until the very end of the year.. which makes it hard on the people trying to get the calendar completed in time for the new year.

Congrats on those that made it.. I'm looking forward to ordering mine.. might even get a couple as I should have my garage as a working shop by then... :D

Seriously? I don't even know who a few of those users are.

You entered pictures knowing you might not get in. If you'd gotten in and someone else hadn't, you'd wonder why they were saying these things. It doesn't mean your pictures were bad. Just submit again next year. Have fun doing more pictures. :shrug: But don't talk down about the people that are doing this calendar. They work hard to get it going.

And I'm sure LS1's calendar will be great. :)

That would be because I am not a post whore as some might call it. I have been on this site for some time. I do not do the train for I work in a warehouse and cannot chit chat with you folks. But I do love this site more than tech and ls2. So i decided to contribute to this years calendar.

I am sure the judges were impartial where longevity of account, popularity of user don't mean squat etc...

I took a lot of pics, and we took a good part of the day to take the pics like I had said before, it would be nice if they just did a final page with those who almost made it - but we'll see what happens, im sure TSS will do a good job.

i agree. Sad part is I've been a member of ls1.com before everyone who entered this calendar was. I was a member years before the big ls1.com crash. ever since the crash I post more at lsall.com and ls1tech (midwest section)

yeah I'm curious to know how my gf/car did not get in it. damn I know my car is nice and damn my gf is a model...

I appreciate your cooperation, but I believe there were some incorrect assumptions with my original email. Originally, I was not asking your site to remove the image although we do own the rights as stated in the second model contract that the user signed (ownership/copyright paragraph). As I said in my email, this is not about the legal aspects. I am more concerned with providing the members of both sites with unique images in the future. I was hoping that we could keep in contact and work together (in the future) to make sure that we do not reproduce pictures that each site is using. I have done this with several other automotive sites and assumed you would want to work with us as well. I guess I was wrong. However, my objective was not to stop your calendar production. yes congrats to the winners but I do have issues with the FACT THAT i DID get mine in by the original date as did many others, and if I am correct there were not 12 by that point if any had to be bumped should have been from those after that date. Great looking wife, good looking, unique car with a ton of mods and several options of themes and a professional photographer, in fact the best in the area, so couldn't be a problem there and don't make it. Not usually a sore loser but feel rooked and like I wasted time and effort when it was needed then suddenly after the original date a surplus comes in so we get bumped.SUCKS!

so from what your saying, the only person in violation is the user who submitted to both sites. Once again, they are the originator and can do what they want with the photos-if she shows up in 10 calendars, then good for her! As far as offering unique content, that's implausable due to the style of user-submitted content.

Basically, it's just going to happen and if after 8 years of these sites making girl-calendars it happened once, then I think that's a pretty good track record. Now everyone go back to their home sites and anticipate the debut of the 08 calendars

We cannot put a "compliation" together on the back of the calendar for those who didn't make it. CafePress [the printer] only gives us 13 slots to put images on; the cover and 12 months. THe back is reserved for CafePress to put their own info on.

Then you should have submitted on tech. For Gods sake, give TSS a break. He has no control over who to put in the calendar nor how many pics. I swear there are soooo many sore losers here. So your car didnt make it in:givesaf:, this isnt the last year ls1 will doing this. I didnt make it last year, what did I do I tried again. Got lucky this year and may not get in next year. But I will not come on here and give TSS or ls1 a hard time. Grow up!!
