I don't want to see a blower fight I want to see a slobber knocker with who's got the best setup no matter what it is. Preferably all motor.

Well GM already has the better motors and we all know what happens when you put a blower on our motors not to mention what happens when you put one on a LS7, whos gonna win the power fight. I think we all know

I have beaten 2 so far. Just a matter of time, til I run into someone that can drive the car, or someone with crazy mods. 1 was stock, with my mods below in sig. At about 65mph, 3rd gear for me, don't know what he was in, I put about a fender at first then to 5th gear I had him by about a car or so. Second, I think the dude couldn't drive, he told me he had a different pulley, he had 1 girl in the car, I had 2 dudes with me. About 65 mph again (God bless 3rd gear at that speed in a F Body, fucker loves it) I put a fender and held just a fender length through the top of 4th. I don't like Ford, but I will give them credit, where credit is due. A fucking badass car. I would like to own one someday, but I don't think at the expense of my car.

I see em for 23 or 24 grand now with low miles (35000), with 25000 miles or less, you will still pay 25 or more.
Im thinking of selling mine, 18k miles, If I sell it, I will sell it for 23$ because my throw out bearing is making a sqeeking sound, probally means I need a clutch soon. Not sliping yet, even when I power shift, but Im sure someone will have to do a clutch soon, so I will be honest when I sell it. I may keep it, and drop a spec 3+ clutch in it? Dunno yet.

keep it. theres no clear reason not to. a throw out bearing is a minor issue man. cobras are very fast and cheap to mod, you said it yourself countless times. so listen to....yourself!:stupid:

I agree, I think that this car is great, I still have not lost a single race, I just want to sell it and buy a Vette. I know it will be slower, I just want a Vette. Always have. I was shopping for a Vette when I bought this car. One test drive and I had to have the power. Now I think I need a change.
My dad has had alot of Vettes, so has my older brother, I love em. So I think I will sell my Termy and get a 02 Vert Vette, or an 02 ZO6. But Im not 100% sure yet. Right now I beat a 02 ZO6 by 2-3 cars, and a 02 regular Vette by around 4-5 cars. I know I will be sad to see it go, so Im struggling with the choice. :unhappy::unhappy:

why spend the money on a new hood and an intake for a roots when you could just use a centrifugal and mount it to the engine?

I agree you gotta give respect where it is due and I have to say that the Cobra is a freakin beast. Would I trade my F-body for it hell no...over my dead body, if I could afford a Cobra I would buy one but that would mean I will have to pass up the Zo6 or the Corvette SS which'll be out in 2 or so years which I don't see myself doing. I wonder if GM has anything in the works to compete with the Cobra besides the obvious Corvette. I do think GM will come out with a supercharger off the line one of these days. It'll be just like back in the day when the competition was Ci but now I think it'll be who's got the better blower. Can't wait.
more displacement + blower = GM wins

I will probally not mod it to much, Just your basic bolt ons. KNN, Full exhaust, tune, stuff like that. But no major mods like cam/heads.
But I might do a 200 shot of NOS. They take it just fine, I have read up on the LS6, it responds to N2O very well. That way Ill have a 400 rwhp car with the bolt ons, and a 550 rwhp car with the NOS. Only when I need it.

I thought the Magnuson (SP) fit under the hood of a stock vette. Centrifugal s/C's are nice and all but I love the sound of the roots/screw superchargers. I love hearing termy's and lightnings go down the track. If Gm does like some of the flying rumors on the net (not that I totally believe them) GM will have a couple of blown v8's out there. One will have a caddy badge, one in the vette, and one (supposedly) in the new Camaro. And the new Goat is supposed to be on the same platform as the Camaro, it might get one too. I know GM has a 6.3L S/C motor out there ready for production but anything other than the ubervette at this point as to what gets it is speculation and guessing. Just keep the weight down unlike the GT500. IMO Termy>GT 500.

GT 500's can make huge numbers but they are heavy as sin and unless you modify the rear suspension you cant fit less than an 18 inch rim and you aren't going anywhere with an 18 inch rim no matter what brand tires you have with 700 + HP. There was one at the track last time I went had his dyno sheet with 702 RWHP. Kenne Belle blower etc. However the fastest he ever went was like 12.5 because the lit the 18 inch nitto's halfway down the track.

I know for a fact there are several around the Denver area that will beat me.
10.98 on just the blower...has nitrous but it didn't have the bottle even in the car for that pass.
Another is 11.1 on a KB blower and 75 hit.
Another one is 11.0 on some nitrous and upgraded pulley.
I have beaten several though. Had the pleasure of catching a modded one off guard once or twice. :yup:
Don't think he expected me to slowly walk away from him seeing as he had a ported blower and all the regular stuff.
Great cars. Not exactly the best drag cars with the IRS, but very quick none-the-less.

I just raced my buddys 04 modded terminator. What I remember he has ported blower, 2.6" pulley, full exaust, headers, Drag Radials, short throw shifter, bigger throttle body, bigger intercooler, and thats all I remember. We raced about 4times 10mph roll, 20mph roll, and a dig. The results were all about the same he would jump about 1 1/2 cars ahead and stay there till about 130mph when we got off of it..I atribute this to the shifter, and the DR's....his throw is alot shorter than mine. a week later his half shafts broke and mine just broke this last Monday for the second time.....lol

all serious drag racers should ditch the independent rear. its amazing how deep into the 10 people go with them.
one around here runs an 11.70 with a pulley swap, intake, and exhaust with the live axle. easier at the strip for sure.....
superchargedgto brought up a good point about the half shafts...is there a given tolerance or does it just depend on the harshness of the launch in regards to breaking them? i read about a cobra that was in full drag trim and ran low 9s high 8s but still retained the irs...yet broke both half shafts EVERY pass it made.

Yes, but the IRS is so nice when you are in the twisties. Im am constantly pushing it harder and harder in the corners. It took a while to get used to the feel of IRS, but now I love it. And I can throttle real hard coming out of corners, its nice.
I have 0 problems launching the Cobra, and with level 5 half shaft upgrades, I hear you can laucnh hard with 900 horsepower and DRs all day long. There are alot of 9 sec Cobras with IRS out there.

i think youre misunderstanding what ive been saying and maybe everyone else. you will LOSE with 360 horsepower. you will lose with 380 horsepower (considering equal drivers). this is not just a power thing, this is a weight, a launch, and a torque thing. my suggestion is to shave some weight and get to 400 ft/lbs and see where that gets ya. maybe some gears.
these cobras PULL HARD. they have a supercharger. most people have a smaller pulley as a FIRST MOD. yes i know its sickening but its fact. if they have the kenne bell blower you might as well start a stroker build or look into a turbo because as much as it pains me to say this, the trusty 346 heads and cam isnt keeping up with 17 pounds of roots type boost.

I learned my lesson when I bought my first LS1 car. It was a 98 SS, stock except exhaust, and I jumped on a pullied 03..Needless to say, i was butt-hurt for the next few days. I'm an LS1/Chevy guy at heart, but I absolutely love the 03-04 Termys. Everyone that has posted has talked about the KB blowers on them...how bout the Whipple!? :yup: Regardless, if you run into a Termy with a Twin Screw blower, you better be making some power otherwise watch out...
BTW-I have both a 01 Camaro SS(408 D1 Procharged) and a 03 Cobra(whipple/solid axle/etc)...

I ran a stock termi...who lives in the area... I have my mods in my sig. mostly stock... he took me bad... first 2 times... I could gain the lead early once by 2 cars...then as soon as I went to 3rd (Auto)... he would blow past me...(same thing happened at the track with one...but he ran like shit 13.4...) then on the last run... I guess he didn't get any grip...so I took it as an Emotional WIN... cause he let out after 2nd gear...
There's only a hand full of stock ones in the whole Metro area... so I haven't really ran any other Cobras... as many as there are around... cause I'll get raped 99.9% of the time

Supercharged 4-valve motors are nothing new...and really not to special - no pun intended. Guys have been supercharging the 4.6 Cobra's since back in the mid '90's when that motor was first introduced. The reason was simple: they "needed" them. It wasn't until Ford put the blower motors into production in '03 that people started noticing them. There fast - just as really any V8 with a supercharger should be - no suprise there. But, you build a low-comp LSx blower motor and you can make sooo much more power and torque than a "terminator" -- with much less boost. We see it all the time.

I agree to an extent. I love my Procharger but the feel of a roots(twin screw) style blower is badass. Almost no "boost-lag" and the torque curve is nice too. If only we could put a nice sized Roots style on and LS1 F-body w/o hacking it to death. And I personally dont think its how much power/torque you make, but when you make it. Either way, they're both badass cars. Just depends how much money the owner wants to spend as to who is faster...

If Roots-type is what you want, then Magnuson's MagnaChager is what you need to get. They offer a "kit" (not some hacked up system you were referring to) in conjunction with Kenny Duttweiler for the LS2 that makes 740HP @ the crank. It uses a 402 LS2 Block, Duttweiler massaged heads/cam, and a Magnuson MP122 HH roots-type supercharger with air-to-water intercooler. And, oh, is 650 ft-lbs of torque @ 2500 on only 8lbs. of boost a nice enough torque curve for you? Magnuson also offers stand alone mild-to-wild supercharger kits to go on your LS1.

Preston, you sound a little like me. Except where you've swapped from car to car, I've kept my old 5.0 and modified it to keep up with the fastest production cars available. It started with my good ol' trusty stock 5.0. I was outrunning f-bodies and enjoying it until I got beat by an LT1 vette. I took care of that with a basic h/c/i upgrade, but when I got outrun by a C5 vette, I redid the H/C/I with a little professional help from Ed Curtis 320rwhp and a weight of less than 3200 lbs I had0 no more LS1 problems. Then I ran into a Z06 :(... So, I decided to "go all out" and invest in a twin turbo kit from incon. The car made 420 rwhp, and I thought that I wouldn't have to worry about chevy again.....wrong!
When I found out that the production for the new Z06 was approved, I pushed the boost limits and blew up the stock 5.0. It seems 500 rwhp was a little much for the ol' mill. I was just planning to stick some solid internals together and outrun the new Z06, but then I heard about the supercharged corvette, and I'm tellin' ya man, I'll be damned if I ever let a production corvette get the best of my very modified mustang. Plus, there's something I enjoy about upholding the 5.0 reputation. It seems like all but the old-schoolers underestimate the potential in these cars.
I'm putting together a little combo that goes like this: a 331 c.i. 302-based Dart Iron Eagle block, billet crank and rods, forged custom 8.5:1 pistons, AFR 205 heads, TFS-R box intake, custom Ed Curtis hydraulic roller cam, Precision GT42-76mm ball-bearing turbo, shaft mount rockers, Big Stuff 3 stand-alone engine management system, and all the supporting goodies. I'm shooting for a conservative goal of 700 rwhp on pump gas, and the turbo is rated to 1200 hp (a little over 1000 rwhp) all maxed out - race gas. I'm considering running the car on E85 so that I can run more boost on the street (104 octane) than with regular gasoline. It seems ridiculous to me that I might still have my hands full with corvettes, though. If this SS is still 427 c.i. and comes with forged internals, it's still going to be very hard to stay in front of them after just a few modifications. But, I think at this point, everything will come down to who has the most traction. If 1000 rwhp isn't enough to hold off these damned chevies, then I guess I have to join the ranks.... Though in a way, I already have. I just bought my '97 C5 in November... It's a great car, but I don't plan on dumping the same kind of money into it.

I was terminated...I didn't know what it was when i raced. I just figured it was a GT. This is when I first got my car too. I was like holy crap that GT is fast. I never heard the SC, but that car was loud. Turns out he had owned several camaros before the Terminator. I beat him from a dig but he said he wasn't trying and I believe him. I think a stall and a cam might do the trick.

I edged one out that was making 485/525 to the wheels when I was cam only, and was also beaten by one with a KB making 600 to the wheels when I was H/C. However, he wouldn't go from a 1st gear roll..only wanted to go from 2nd where it was optimal for him. I was outa my power band (had the T Rex cam at the time), by the time I was in the good RPMs he was gone.
I think with my mods now I'll be able to play a fair game with heavily modded ones

They are quik cars but i've beat one around my part of town, my mods are K&N CAI, Flowmaster exhaust, 150 shot of juce, MT ET Street, TCI 3200 Stall, TB bypass, Ported TB, DeScreend Mass Air, Cat Delete and BMR Drag Bags. To me its been alot of money since im not loaded but worth the look on his face when i pulled on him hard off the line at the end i only beat him by 1 1/2 cars so if he had some MT on his maby it would have been diff.

Maybe the LS1 was running on 6 cylinders. Prolly the case, cause I have walked a Steigmeyer ported 03 coupe AT THE dragstrip, when I didn't have a set of heads, but I had the other stuff you mentioned.
