View Full Version : Mazda Speed 3 Pssh

Friend of mine thought he could take me in my 2000 WS.6 trans am in his stock mazda Speed three. So first run he takes me off the line and through second gear but as he goes to shift into third he jams it into first and almost drops his tranny. He rolled around the block once to make sure everything was ok then we tried again. This time i just left him behind me from the begining, he must have been shifting slow because he was afrad of making the same mistake. But either way he won't be racing any LS1s from now on. Imports, bleh.

I beat one down on Wednesday. I stayed by her side for a little while until I punched it. She was good looking and I didn't want to hurt her feeling to much. I thought it was going to faster too. It seemed to be slower than a stock SRT4 even.

They have a lot of low end, more torque than hp, 260hp and i think like 285 torque. he beat me off the line cause i turned off TC to show off and well, didn't get any traction untill i let off the gas a little shifting to second.

Interesting...... I know nothing about these Mazdaspeed 3's...... Comparison to a SRT-4 you say??? Now I'm intrigued..... Guess Ill have to go to google to find out what I dont know about.....

Raced one about 2 months ago.... Guy drove up on me all cocky. The light ahead turned red and I was like "thank you god!!!!" When I pulled up next to him, he had this smirk on his face like "you don't want to try my turbo charged beast". The light turned green. We both ease into it then at about half way through the intersection, we punched it. He was at the rear of my door at the top of first, I chirped second, he fell back to my bumper. By the top of second at about 75-80 mph, I can clearly see him in my rear view and fading fast. I braked hard to get into a turning lane and as he drove by, he gave me a smile and nod. They are pretty quick for what they are but are not comparable to an LS1... auto or manual.

i dont like ford and ford owns mazda so i dont like mazda, childish i know but im sure theres a few more that agree out there? somewhere?

they definately have potential. comparison's put them a couple ticks slower than a stock srt, so a high 13, with the typical ricer driver about a 15 sec quarter though.

Well evos are cockey and they have less than 260 to all wheels lol.

No stock EVO should be cocky believe me. My car stock only for the first 1000 miles... never looked back after that. The modded ones might be, but Ive never seen someone get like that with a stock one, although Im sure its happened!

Oh Im serious. No one is cocky in a stock one around here. If a stock EVO thinks he will "rape" a stock Fbod, they have something coming to them. I dont get how they think a 271-286hp car would beat a 320-350hp car. That doesnt make sense

I watched an Evo and a Vette race from a dig one night, the evo did the launch thing and then he stopped at the end of second with his flashers on claiming a win. Some ignorant (not all) racers in the Evo and STI clubs think the party stops at the start of 3rd gear.

Thats pretty lame. Hell, I dont even like going from the line, I like roll racing!
