clinks when shifting?

whenever i put my car in reverse or an gear actually there's always a clink sound, i've never had an automatic until my maro, is this okay or what could it be. she runs like a striped ass ape so i don't know if it's a bad sound. help!!!!!!

Sounds like a universal joint-they are pretty cheap.
