He climbed right on my ass on the highway so I downshifted to 3rd, held it there for a second or two to equalize our momentum, then floored it. It was either an '05 or '06, had the tailpipes on each side. On a roll from 70 MPH, I took no chances shifting at 6,100 into 4th and he was now 4 lengths behind me at about 115 when I let off, he started at 2 lengths behind me.

LS2 GTO's are pretty nasty from a highway roll, you must have some good mods to take one by 4 car lenghts ;)

Too much traffic for the GTO to get beside me, and I only got him by about 2 lengths. He was about 2 lengths behind me to start. Nice adreneline rush, had to get home and cut the grass and have a couple beers to calm down. Grass got cut in record time!

Thanx. You do have to be careful in traffic, this time I was loose with my own rules about racing. Usually only at the drag strip.

I saw a kid at the races one night with a blue GTO, said 6.0 on it. He was 17, tires were bald, its been through a fence, car is f'ed up seriously. Made me sad to see a precious Goat in my fav color go through that.

I saw the exhaust as I came up on him a couple minutes earlier. I was in the left most lane and he was in the middle as I went by first. It was shortly after that he came up balls out behind me. Maybe he heard me rev my engine as I was next to him? It was more of a "nice car you have there rev", not a "let's race" rev, and to let him know I know he is in a GTO and not some generic car.
