My friends dad just got one of these, I'm not sure on the specs, anyway his dad let him take it out for a couple hours and he told me it didn't feel any faster than my car (99 Z28) I find this kinda hard to believe, how fast are these cars? btw it's RWD not AWD.

What kind of mods do you have on your Z28? Stock for stock the new 997 would pull a Z28 hard, especially at highway speeds. But an LS1 with the right bolt ons could probably hang

My z28 has a lid, catback, 3.73s, and some suspension mods. He also paid $92,000 for this car.

If I were a betting man I'd say the 997 is faster in all respects. Of course there's room for driver error in a 1/4 run but if you're just asking which car is faster...997. I would think it would take around 400rwhp for an LS1 to beat a 997

the basic engine variations are the carrera, carrera s, and the new turbo. the last being a mis ten second car stock...i doubt few ls1 can touch it in the quarter, and none on earth can keep up with it on a track

I don't know anything about these cars, I figured they should be a lot faster than my car. I Just couldn't believe it when he said it didn't feel any faster, buuut he's never driven my car, he's just been a passenger.

I think you got bad gouge on the 997T 1/4 times, it's still an 11sec car. However there are factory packages that are available, the most extreme pushes the HP up to 640 and a 220mph top speed. That variant would certainly be in the 10's

Well keep in mind that Porsche's aren't just designed for straight line accelleration, in matter of fact, any striaght line perfomance is simply the byproduct of what it takes to be fast around a track. Like derrinx said, there's no F-body that can hang with those things on a track
