I have an A4 and I want some new gears in that bad boy ! I just put on some 555DRs and SFCs and want to go to the next step of launching off the line quicker. I know very little about rear ends in general and all the info I can get would be good, im very unsure on getting them at this point because of everything I have heard, like how much will my top end power suffer, and when im doing 80 down the highway what will my RPMs be at ? and will my Hypertek CP3 be able to adjust my gauges to it. Overall what are the gains and what are the draw backs ? Thanks...

I gained .2in the 1/4 and 3mph,with 3:73s went from 3:23s.Ur car will launch harder and pull hard through the gears with them maybe drop off some in 4th,I havent raced past a 110 since the gears, but its pulled hard all the way through the traps. If u want to launch hard you should look into getting a Torque converter too.

ok think about it, are you gonna 1/4 mile this car or do a 100 roll. the fist 60 feet in a drag race make up about a 6th of the complete time. so if you drag race your car that is where you want to start cause a .1 off you 60 can be .2 or more in the quarter when i run my auto with 2.73 gears yes 2.73 i go 2.002 on the 60 and 12.9 at 109 now when i spin and get a 2.100 60 my quarter drops to 13.19 at 109, i plan on gettin 3.73 always best,it bet i can pull a 1.85 60 with 3.73 not including more acceloration throughout the rest of the quarter plus dont worry about the interstate our cars have OD back in the 70s they were running 4.10 in the autos with big blocks and no OD
3.73

Od ?
overdrive.
373s are the way to go. Harder pull off the launch. Harder pull from a roll. Have had my car up around 140 with the 373s and wasnt tached out yet. No down side that I know of.
