(I have not posted here in a while, just re-counting my recent kills in case you wonder at WHY! I have so many up in different cars).

Well, I am not that creative soo...here it is:

75-11X I put 1 car on the 99-01 Cobra. Slow crawl, I just threw it in 4th and wound it out. At around 5300rpm I started pulling. Ended up about 3/4-1 car ahead

My 5.0 isnt as bad as I thought

I raced a 5.0 in my 01 Cobra. For this race it was full-bolton, stock gears.

The guy had a big ass tach and shift light combo on the dash, I could tell b/c when he hit redline his whole interior lit up that night.

Anyway, I let him get the jump, sounded like he had some work done, must have been just exhaust, b/c I tore him a new asshole from 80 to 130.

Then did it again about 20 miles down the road.

Once again, what are your mods on that 5.0?

At 5300rpm on my stock tach I started building enough power to begin my slow crawl away from the guy. Upper rpms are where my 5.0 shines. 5K+

Yeah, I never understood that. Back when I was 16 (1996), I noticed a shitload of mustangs were loud as hell, had after market tachs, and were just barely runnign 13s. It kinda reminds me of the ricer syndrome...only they actually are running decent times.

Meh, it is in my Z28 thread. I dont have them on my clip-board currently. My car ran a 14.4@98.54 shifting at 5800rpm (about 500rpm too short) and on SHIT! tires with a 2.15+ 60'. On DR's and shifting at 6500 now that I have a 7K chip I should hit mid 13's I would guess.

What is a 7k chip?

I think he is talking about the chip for an MSD Ignition, which sets the rev limiter at the desired RPM.

If the motor isnt built for it, whats the point?

Edelbrock RPM Performer manifold (carbed)
FRPP Aluminum DS <--- :thinkin:

I am sure I have left some stuff out, but there are the basics.
(244whp/262 wtq w/AF at 13:1 if you were wondering. Peak tq at about 3500 and peak hp close to 6K)

Damn dude, with all those mods, I would think you should be putting at least 300 to the wheels. Where's the beef?

I got a buddy at work with a 350Z, full exhaust with high-flow cats, CAI, and he put more to the ground than that!!! :lmao:

RUNNING LEAN AS HELL!!!

Not really. The motor was rated at 340hp SAE Gross. An LS1 will make 400hp GROSS. IT puts 300 to the ground. My 244 when rated at 340 is just what it should do. I also have a 17" fixed flex fan...at 5800+rpm I bet it has quite the drag...
Engine does exactly what the company who built the engine said it would.

Head-flow with GT40P's is not very good, around 190-200 int. and 150 ex. They stop flowing after .500 :( They didnt put the best cam in there imho.

Also I have a TKO500 and 4.10's...that cost me about 10hp probably.

Electric fans and a T5 instead of the heavy ass TKO would have me at around 265 or so I bet. Also consider the dyno operator only took it to 5800...

Hmmm...you make good points.

You know you could get a used 01 cobra motor for pretty cheap on ebay. Prolly less than what you got in that one. That thing is gonna put you at 270-280whp right outta the box, sound sweet as hell, and COME with a 7K redline, no upgrades needed.

The sweetest fox I ever saw was a black one with an 01 Cobra and Tremec 3650 swap out, and some awesome deep dish wheels on it. Man that was a sweet sounding ride.

I gave the mustang to my dad. I am only driving it while doing a few things with it. The motor cost $3200 including the new block and shipping. 270-280whp would probably be a step down from my current toy. The 5.0 is just something I am messing with for a few weeks until he takes it back and I am forced to once again DD my WS6.
