Baking Soda?!?!

Putting baking soda on your car is supposably a great cleaner...so I hear anyways...anyone try it?

It will combat bad odors that I know of, but don't know of any other usage on the car...

I remember my Dad using baking soda and water to clean the battery terminals. I also remember him using some of it mixed in with his Turtle Wax paste(poorman's rubbing compound) to help get rid of small scratches and stuff on his 68 Mustang, and the 70 Pontiac. The shine was always admired by the other guys he hung out with on the weekends. I've used it in the past, mixed with water as a paste, for cleaning my silver coins, but had completely forgotten about the way he used it. I hate getting old.... :lastweek:

Yeah it works great to clean the batt. terminals but I would not use it on my paint.
There is way to many good cleaners out there to use rather than make my own creaction up.:xfingers:

but you can use it for this

Use baking soda to safely clean lights, chrome, windows, tires, vinyl seats, and floormats in cars. Sprinkle the baking soda onto a damp sponge, scrub it, then rinse it off.

Other spots on upholstery can be cleaned with a baking-soda paste rubbed into the stain. Let it dry then vacuum away.

Remove oil and grease on vinyl seats with a solution of baking soda and water, or with baking soda sprinkled on a damp sponge. Rinse it off, then wipe away.

Have polished aluminum, silver and other non-coated (painted) surfaces with it. :yup:
