much, much, debate i have found on this, well i have a 78 440 and it had a 12 lb fan on it till i swap it out with an electric fan

now many people will say that you are just pullin more amps from the alt so no gain is ther, WRONG, the fan i have pulls 2100cfm, more that any clutch fan at idle and only pulls 9.96 amps, that should only be 1hp on the alt. that is like turning the headlights on,

i wish i had a dyno but i do have a timeslip from my truck with the 440 that ran a 16.3, now they say that a clutch fan can draw up to 15 hp, and judging by how heavy mine was and it never really did freewheel, just sliped alittle, if 15 is the gain then i should pull a 16.1, will let you guys know in april when i take it back to the track, oh and the truck does seem to run cooler in traffic

anyone else do this to ther old muscle car?

Since your running a MOPAR I would get the Mopar Performance big block fan/clutch kit. I ran a 16" PermaCool on my 383 and went back to the M.P. fan and clutch for MORE efficent cooling. I buzz it 8500 rpm so it's a screamer and the clutch just slips at high rpm and high cruising speeds.
