View Full Version : Not shifting on time
I have a 2000 Z28 with the A4. When I shift it manually from 1st to 2nd often I will shift at about 5K and it will not shift prior to hitting the rev limiter. Does anyone know why the delay occurs when you shift it manually and is there any way to improve response time. It shifts fine in drive or OD but it sucks when I shift it.

do not shift it manually man, its an electronicly controlled transmission, in D it could shift better then you could manually, the only way to shift an auto then is if you but the manual valvu body. dont do it man
It shifts to early since I changed to 373 gears. Often when I break traction it will shift to sencond and third almost instantaneously then it will downshift again and roast the tires. All the while this is happening it will hit the rev limiter. What would you say the highest safe setting for the rev limiter is.

if the engine is totally stock then at the rev limiter, my frined had his rev limmiter upped to 6,500 i believe and reved it a lot and floated a lifter cause of it. and not to mention you could bend a rod.
Yeah I think I will leave it alone thanks for the info.
