X2 I put the LS6 intake on my 98, and it really woke it up. You will see an improvement across the entire RPM range. You will also find the use of 6th gear more practicle.

Intake and headers are a great next modification.

Let that baby breath some air.

I'm thinking of doing the same thing man. SLP has the LS6 for $370, which seems like a bargain. Only thing I'm concerned about is the damn EGR...did you get the one with the EGR provisions, or have someone tune out the EGR system?? The EGR version is like $100 more, I'll stare at the CEL until I get a tune before I pay $100 so I can hook up the damn EGR :wwf:

I got the Z06, LS6 intake which doesn't have the EGR. Yeah, my check engine light is on until I get a tune. I took the EGR off of the passenger header and pulled the bottom plate off of the tubing. I then cut out a piece of steel the same size as a block off plate and installed with a gasket.
Its not the prettiest, but it will do until I get my race headers on.

Good call, thats what I think I'm going to do. I'll just order the block off plates from eBay or something and live with the CEL until I get a tune.

I wish they made the Diablo Predator for the '98 LS1s, then I could just buy one of those and tune it myself :(

JBA only makes shorty headers for our cars. Shorty headers will not (IMO) give you much of a gain. Their not worth the price for the gain that you get out of them. Your best bet is to go with a set of Long Tube Headers.
The most popular LT Headers are Patriot. For the price, you get a big gain out of them.

Depends on how much you are looking to spend. I agree with everyone else on the long tubes. If you go that route stainless works has the highest flowing on the market. I would change your cats while you are at it. With a 6 speed .410s really liven the car up.
