Cool man good kills. When i was stock in my98 ls1 camaro I had a full bolt on s2000 try to run me, he was kinda there for a second and than I promptly proceeded to put several bus lengths on him. It's funny though how the s2000 guys will say that they will run with a ls1 stock for stock, what a joke. No replacement for good ol american displacement!

There's my import bashing buddy...
Some dude here in the Raleigh area posted a kill of an LS1 Camaro on S2Ki.com. He was stock with some minor bolt-ons, and tried to say the LS1 had exhaust. Said he was "more impressed with his car everyday." He tried to say he put a couple car lengths on the guy to 120. I went over there and told him I would be glad to give him a race.
Then all I heard were excuses. :unhappy: me a f*ckin river.
Most of the S2K guys gave him sh*t and called BS on him, to their credit.
Good kill Mike! Those S2K's need superchargers to be any comp to LS1's.

In this extreme rare instance, he is actually correct. That sounds weird doesnt it :naughty:
The S2000 responds horribly to mods, sort of like a 350Z. Intake, headers, exhaust, etc add a miniscule amount of power. A complete waste of time to modify unless you wanna blow some serious cash on a forced induction setup, and even then, they arent that fast.

lack of displacement and technology. You see honda spends all their time and money on blinky lights, Vtec systems, and other neat gadgets that are pretty much uesless, when they forgot car technology 101. THERES NO REPLACEMENT FOR DISPLACEMENT. Higher number > lower number
EE1983

That sounds horrible. Why is that?
Well its small displacement in the first place that already has an extremely high flowing head and the stock exhaust and intake on it are already pretty good so that leaves only so much to do to it. Its not easy getting 120hp/per litre out of a naturally aspirated motor so in order to do that, the engine has to be pretty "modded" in a way from the factory. This in turn makes it difficult and costly to modify.

I hate to be picky, but he had a LOW gear ratio. The bigger the number, the lower the ratio. A 2.73 is a HIGH ratio. Low gears like 4.77s or 4.56s are good for drag racing but limit top end and fuel economy. They also wear out engines. High ratios are good for fuel economy, highway cruising and flat out top end. They aren't as quick accelerating. Remember, big number = low, small number = high.

Not true brotha, camaro is a monster on the road course. Where do you think road racing got a lot of its roots in the U.S.? with sick ass rwd gen 1 camaros whooping ass in the trans am series. In stock trim the 4th gens sit kinda high, but will still whoop an s2000 stock for stock except perhaps maybe on the shortest and twistiest of tracks. With lowering and basic suspension bolt ons the slalom, skid pad and track numbers are right on par with very expensive exotics including porche's and ferrari's. Another testament to the world class, budget oriented performance potential of the fbody. With sick ass ls1 horsepower on the straights and great cornering potential the fbody is a great autocross car, why do you think all the nascars, trans am series, indy cars and all superior high level road course cars are rwd not awd or fwd, cause its far superior for road racing and drag racing also. I'm sure and members with autocross experience will chime in on this. I'm sick of hearing the import guys cry when they lose in a drag race that they will beat an ls1 on the road course cause most of them wont, and with suspension bolt ons probably none of them.

I had a 2002 S2000 as a fun car for a summer. It really was a good handling fun car. It did not have the low down TQ or raw HP, but it was fairly quick once you learn how to drive it. The power doesn't even come on until 6400 rpm's at around 40mph in 1st gear. That's when it gets a little fun. It is very fast from 40-60ish then it's losing power after that. It is RWD and can whip 360's like crazy. I had to do a good deal of mods to make my T/A handle better that what my S2000 did. They are very high tech, but pushed quite far from the factory and not worth modding. I would have raced a LS1 fbody with it, but would have expected to get my ass handed to me. One of the few cars I raced with was a 92ish 5.0 Stang from a 35 roll and I blew his doors off. His jaw dropped in disbelief, but we know what a 5.0 is good for.

5.0 is good for...nothing?

maybe for a nascar circle but i would still rather have all wheel drive on a winedy road. All though ive only had my camaro 2 weeks, just noticed a hudge handling difference between it and a WRX.
ah gotcha the car is pretty new to you. ive never raged anything but rwd so idk how awd handles but i would still prefer rwd over awd just cause you can manipulate the weight distribution, plus you cant steer with your throttle w/ awd.

That right there is the main reason I don't like AWD.
