hey im looking to buy a 00 z28 A4. it has GU5 3.23 gear ratio.it has some mods done to it as well. Whisper air lid and a full exhaust consisting of Pacesetter headers, TSP catted Y pipe and Magnaflow catback with the 3" tips. changed the plugs and wires with MSD wires and NGK tr55 plugs. the car was tuned and dynoed 313 rwhp and 326 rwtq with the mods. do those numbers seem to be low for the mods or is it just me?

there are 71xxx on it. he said the car was running funny that day and he has got the plugs and wires changed after. maybe that would of been the difference

my 2000 formula stock was 289rwhp. with youre mods its more or less avarage but a tiny bit on the low side.

well from reading more it sounds like it is about right or on the low side. is there that much power diff from the M6 to A4?

Numbers are a bit low especially if its had some tuning. Not low enough that I would be highly concerned though.
Does it have an stall convertor in it, that could explain the low HP numbers.

As a stone stocker my 02 Z A4 made 306rwhp and 323rwt on the dyno (31,xxx miles). With just a QTP 3" elec cutout (open) it made 323rwhp and 344rwt.
I currently have QTP 1 3/4 headers running into a custom 3" y-pipe into the 3" cutout (no cats and no AIR). I also have a Volant CAI. Will be dynoing and tuning this Sat. I'll report back how much it picked up. The car is at 38,xxx now.
BTW: It doesn't sound like it's that low considering you've still got full exhaust with cats on it.

yea, im still waiting on this damn ohio weather to get better so i can go check it out. but it does not have a stall convertor. i think the first thing i would do is some OFYs and go from there. thanks for the tips and whenever i get to drive it ill let you guys know. what about price? $9500 for an 00 with 71xxx miles and the mods?

Those numbers do look a little off. The Z should be breaking at least 300+ horses, especially with those mods you got, I would say in the 325-340 range. Have it dynoed at a different, maybe dynojet malfunctioned or something. You never know with these things.
Those numbers are fine. If you're concerned for low numbers... Do a little free mod (port and polish your TB, FRA) it should bump your numbers 10 rwhp or so and install a LS6 intake (another 7-10 rwhp gain). ET numbers should be your main concern though.

New dyno results: Cutout closed - 335/353; open 343/357. That's rwhp and rwt on a DynoJet.
Once I get the new torque arm it's off to the track for some real world numbers.

Auto or M6? and what other mods?
I ended up finding a M6 which is what I wanted all along so I got it. I plan to get it on the dyno soon to see what power its making stock.

I wonder if dynojets malfunction very much. I put 308 down on a dynojet dyno and it seemed low for my mods. But everything else was dynoing very low. A brand new Rumble bee truck only put down 265 to the rear wheels and it had a borla exhaust system, a ford boss truck only put 211 rwhp, and a 1999 ford gt put 208, and another m6 LS1 TA w/ flowmaster put 288 down.
My HP mods are Lt headers, no cats, Flowmaster muffler, Slp lid w/ K&N filter, MSD wires

http://www.ls1.com/forums/showthread.php?t=44302 Tranny is an A4. I have a Volant CAI, QTP 1 3/4" headers, custom 3" Y going into a QTP 3" electric cutout. Balance of exhaust flows through the stock exhaust. I also have custom made SFC's and a rebuilt rear out of an M6 car (3.42 gears). Here's the dyno graph with cutout open:
