Saw this at another forum-thought it very entertaining. It looks like an open track day -he is driving a Camaro in Germany at the Hockenheimring and is blasting by most folks-except for the turbo Porsche! It's about 15 minutes of great engine sounds as he shifts and hits the corners, watch towards the middle where he really starts letting loose and slides off track-gets run off once! Fun to watch !

I know!! There is some kind of mini van or utility vehicle circulating out there! He laps it at least once -haha. If you look close there is another Camaro out there that he passes in a turn. I didn't see it again. He swaps places with an impressive looking BMW a couple of times. He is only really bested by a couple of Porsches, one of which he gives a good showing for a lap or so. In the discussion following he explains that it costs like $15 (!) for the track time which runs about 1/2 hour to 45 minutes. As you can see for the most part the participants are well behaved -but he gets run off the track once!

Went back to look and somebody asked him some more questions. He said his gas mileage was 47 litres per 100 kilometers (?) and joked he must have had a hole in gas tank. If somebody can translate that I would appreciate it.
17'x9" rims with Toyo RA1 tires
LG coilovers suspension
9" rear axle w/3.89 gears and a locker
Stock Z06 heads and intake with a "Hotcam" and headers
PCM owner tuned
This is all the info given- make of it what you will ,there were no other specifics.
In his sig he is "98 SS" something so I'm guessing that's what the vehicle must be.
He seems to be a hobbyist racer and states that he messed up on the lines and entry speed and thats why he spun.
It's 15 minutes long but well worth watching for anyone just tuning in.

47 liters = 12.41 gal
100 km = 62.1 miles
or
1gal per 5.1 miles ... he's bullshiting. impossible unless he really has a hole in the tank.

He sounded serious about the 5 mpg. You have to figure he's got his foot in it the whole way and he described that he was only in 5th gear for a short distance, the rest of it is hotfootin it around the track in lower gears.

yeah, I doubt that he's bullshitting... When you're in competition mode w/ a 5.7 liter, you're going to have to fill up your tank quick.

These cars get something like 20-25 mpg on the highway and probably 15mph city when being driven the way the a test driver drives when trying to get good fuel economy for advertising sake. You know very well that at WOT these cars dump gas at a rate that would make every inefficient toilet in the country jealous.

Borat: If this car drive into a group of gypsies, will there be any damage to the car?
Car Dealership owner: It depends on how hard you hit them and all that.
Borat: *Hard*
Car Dealership owner: You might-if somebody rolls on the windshield, they could crack your windshield.
Borat: How fast do I need to go to guarantee I kill them?
Car Dealership owner: Uh-let me tell you something with this vehicle here probably doing 35-45 miles per hour will do it.
Borat: Great! When I uh, buy my wife, at the start she was uh, cook good, her vazhïn work well, and she strong on plow. But after three years when she was fifteen, then she become weak, her voice become deep: BORAT BORAT, eh, she receive hair on chest, and vazhïn hang like sleeve of wizard.
Car Dealership owner: Huh-Jesus...
Borat: How do I know that this will not happen with the car?
Car Dealership owner: Chevrolet guarantees you that with a warranty.

No-everybodies on their own. You sign release papers beforehand.
I can't see 10 car pileups happening there though. That's not nose to tail drafting NASCAR. Nobody wins anything so nobodies breathing down each others neck-it would be stupid to drive like it really mattered who beat who.

There are insurance companies that sell racing insurance. It is expensive though.
Third shift , you can always run on fun days at Nelson ledges. It is pretty much the same as this video. There is even video of it on this web- site.

i love the way that porsche just drifts around the corners

That is probably correct. I've emptied 3/4 a tank in half day at the track before my car was cammed. By contrast my wife used only 1/2 a tank in her A4 Z28. I think she wasn't driving as hard as i was.

when I drove the wifes WS6 out at willow springs raceway I was burning up a quarter tank, maybe slightly more per session = 10 laps 2.6 miles per lap. And it's a auto and I'm not all that at driving. So 5.5 mpg does not seem unreasonable. Heck the wife pitched me out of her car and now I drive a SRT4 and I'm only getting a little over 8 miles per gallon at the same track.
