'02 WS6 T/A; red exterior/neutral interior; T-tops; A4......how rare is this one? I've been told that most red WS6's in '02 had the ebony interior and 6 speed. Just wondering how rare mine is. Thanks in advance.

New to the site. I have severe Spring fever on my mind and the car sits in the garage under a cover whispering to me in my sleep! Damn North! 38F here today for all of you non-metric people.
My WS-6 is a 2002 with a current 348 Rwhp do to the following mods:
SLP long tube headers with Y pipe and high flow CATS- well spent other than the ground clearance issue!
Borla muffler and single exhaust tips - for that growl at 3000RPM and rumble at 1800 - leaving the house at 6:00am for work in a tidy suburban neighborhood!
SLP MAF - money well wasted
Cold Air induction - again the same
Smooth Bellow - again the same
SLP Air box - well spent
10.4mm Taylor wires - well spent as the skinny wires were an embarassment
Custom tune to get the air/fuel ratios right - well spent
Chassis - SLP bolt on Subframe connectors, SLP panhard, SLP strut brace,SLP trailing arms, SLP torque arms, SLP anti-sway bar, SLP Driveshaft loop and a set of Thrust II rims with 315/35/R17 BF TA drag radials with 1/4 spacers on the rear end!
Parts to put on before April (otherwise sitting in the Garage in boxes):
Moser rear end - 12bolt with 3:73 gears and 33 spline axles
SLP 1.85 roller rockers
Power stop slotted/dimpled rotors (front and back) with braided steel lines, SLP Line locks
Pro ATI DSC-1 SuperCharger
5 hours of Dyno to re-tune and code edit everything again!
SO it proves that I am really retarded! And that is why I really like this site!

Hey whats up fellas. First post. I'm looking into purchasing a ws6. Was wondering if it is a true ws6, the guy selling it gave me this VIN 2G2FV22G922117082. Could you please give me all pertinent info please. What is ASC#?
02 ws6 with 6k miles, what should I expect to pay for this?
Thanks for all your help

It is a WS6 (verified). Check edmunds and plug in the specifics. A low mileage WS6 will still command a fair amount.

In a word....NO. Check edmunds pls. I left you a link. plug in your specifics, ie: zip code, color of car, options, and condition. That will be pretty close to the market value. Don't go for the "it's a rare car, no longer in prod, yahda yahda yahda blah blah blah crap" They aren't worth that much.

I looked for over a month before buying my '02 WS6 in April of this year. Regardless of what the books say, that sounds like a great deal for the mileage on that car. Sounds like a fair deal for a 30,000 mile car from my experience.
Is that car posted anywhere you can link? A4 or M6?

That is what I paid and mine had 48k miles on it. ( $19,400) -- I know I paid alittle much, but they started @ 24,999 LMAO.. I told them I expected to pay to pay 17k. and they laughed at me. They immediately dropped to 22k. I told them I was NOT paying that much, it isn't worth that to anyone, no one would pay that, and if they wanted my business they would have to sell it to me for no more than KBB's retail.I showed them Edmunds and KBB -- Edmunds said 18,200 TMV, (true market value) and KBB showed 19,500. (retail) which is still TOP dollar, and should rarely be paid. they finally sold it to me for about 19,400.
I spent a good 2 hours in negotiations before we got to the paperwork.

It wasn't, it was converted in March. But, ASC lost all the #'s for cars after July and Aug of 99. They started converting the yr 2000 cars back in July of 99. June 99 was the last 99 rollout before they started manufacturing the 00's in July 99. Your car was made in March of 2000 which means I don't have your #. I only have the cars that were manufactured and converted in July and Aug of 99. ASC told me they have no idea where all the other months are.....poor record keeping. Hope that clears it up for ya.

No, it's your GM born on date. ASC had a separate conversion date slightly later but usually during the same month of your vehicles manufacture. And yes, poor record keeping is to blame. And if you don't have the "WS6" RPO code on the driver door sticker I'm afraid it's not a authentic WS6.

Guys-
My car had no door stickers on it (apparently in some kind of accident or needed the door replaced), any way I went to the local pontiac dealership and asked if he could find my RPO codes...and yeah, he was able to look it up and was kind enough to print them out for me. So yea, I have a legit WS6. 01_WS6_4_ME, I will PM you with all my information. It has a 06/16/99 date on it. I am at work right now, so I will have to do it later tonite or tomorrow.

Thanks but I actually found a later post where I could download the info. I have number 989. Did ASC make the WS6 conversions as well as the Firehawks?
ASC did WS6s '98+, SLP did ALL the Firehawks, and WS6s in '96-'97. Although SLP was apparently subcontracted to do some of the WS6s in the later years when production volume probably outpaced ASC's capacity.

Got it. Thanks for the info. Have you been able to get your ASC number? I noticed yours is black.

I noticed yours is a 98 WS6 ragtop as is mine. I could be wrong but I am thinking they will more collectable down the road because there were no Firehawks built in 98. What do you think? How many miles on yours? I was into streetrodding, had a model A roadster. Panicked when they quit making the birds as I really wanted one. Sold the roadster and picked up the T/A for 15 grand. Just take it to shows. Plan on keeping it forever. It's helping me through my mid life crisis! Ha Ha (That's how I talked the wife into it) ;)

Thanks for responding. Nice to hear my suspicions confirmed. Thought I'd have to sell it last year when my wife was diagnosed with Luekemia. Put it up on Ebay with a starting bid if 15 g but no takers. I'm glad now. One of 339 WS6 verts built in 98. Wife is doing well after a stem cell transplant and we still have our home! Sure would like to know how many Tan over white WS6 verts were built but I guess there is no way to find out.

gald your wife is doing ok and you still have your bird but i feel that you are putting a bit to much stock in the fact that your car is one of 339 in 98... the fact is your car is the same as all the rest of the cars made in your style from 98-2002 and there are thousands of them. nobody is going to pay $15k for your 10 year old bird unless you have SUPER low miles.. a 98 WS6 vert with 30k books for $12.. heck, i just picked up an 02 for $16k from a DEALER.. granted it is not a vert but lets be sane here...

Thanks for your response. I know what your saying and agree to some level but also feel your missing the collectors point of view. I'm not saying my car is a 74 super duty or anything like that. But I think more along the lines of the 455 Trans am in 75. Pontiac was not going to build any 455 cars anymore but because of the public outcry they finally gave in and ended up producing over 800 of them where they produced thousands of 455 cars in the years before and after. Now the 75 455 is quite collectable going for around 45,000 restored where a 400 car may go for 25, restored. You mention the book value for 98 WS6 vert being 12. NADA puts it at 18 for high value. I've gone over every inch of the car to make it as good as new. My opinion, take it for what it's worth.

:Ot: Gentlemen, with all due respect, this thread is about ASC#'s. Would you pls refrain from conversation about anything otherwise. Thank you.

I got my ASC# from Suzie back in late '98 or '99 by phone (#3030, built on 2nd-to-last day ASC converted '98s).
And I'm definately feeling you about the "collectability" thing (no Hawks in '98, lowest # of WS6 'verts built was in '98, first year WS6 'verts got 17" rims/tires and same suspension as coupes, unique SOTL exhaust in '98, etc). While I've got my fingers crossed, I'm not holding my breath.
Oh, BTW, there were only 47 White WS6 TA 'verts built in '98. And since 100 of those WS6 TA verts were NOT red or black, I could say mine's one of 239. ;)

i understand and will comply but in our defense we were debating the value of his 1 out of 339 ASC numbered car. so it was in a way on topic of ASC#s
i had a question that i asked last week about ASC stuffs but nobody seemed to pick up on it so i will ask again....my conversion number is 193 so does that mean that mine is 193rd out of how ever many were converted in 2002?? i'm not quite sure what conversion number is...
thanks

I would say that's a safe bet. Your car was probably converted in June or July of 01 too huh?

Yep, the ASC# is essentially the sequence in which cars were converted. Low-numbered cars were early in the MY production run, conversely high-numbered cars were near the end. Mine, #3030 of 3086, was converted the 2nd-to-last day ASC did the '98s.

I don't know whom to contact or if I'm even in the right thread but I am destined to break the code and find out what # mine is. I do know that it is a really low production # by G.M. VIN# 2g2fv22g222132541 Anyone help would be greatly appreciated. I am disappointed to find that the majority of WS6 cars were black!! Oh well at least I have one of them.
