I live in Pell City ...It is about half way between B'ham and Aniston .... Thanks about the GTO...So you did a complete frame off?? I almost bought a 66 the same color , not a ragtop .. It had a transplanted 389.. , But she was going downhill quick and it was a little out of my budget to pull back up...If you know what I mean...

i had to do a frame off the old frame was junk (rust). then i cut all the floor pans and trunk pans out too.

Yea if it was a rag-top that got left outside ....goes downhilll quick ...but I guess if you are going to be modding it like you did ... I guess you dont want to good of one ..

the way i see i saved it, and if im going to drive it needs to handle like a modern car so it does not get into an accident

yes and now i am in the process of figuring out how to changing it to rack and pinion. pretty much got it figured just got to get the parts together

Wish I had the $$ for the R&P, stock steering sucks.

it is not going to cost that much the way we will do it. i will probably use a thunderbird rack $100, reweld a new cross member behind the radiator, reverse mount the rack, put a 3' steel plate on the rack ends, figure where the steering rod ends should mount on the plate and bolt them to it. we will use a bump or toe steering gauge to get it right just like we do on the race cars. total cost $150. time to do it... all friggin day.
i did see that there is a very fast ratio box you can buy though.they go in increments of a 1/4 turn the faster the ratio more expensive.
